The 220 kV Nam Sum – Nong Cong power line has been technically completed.

The investor-level acceptance council – Vietnam National Power Transmission Corporation (EVNNPT) – held a meeting on the progress of energizing the 220 kV Nam Sum – Nong Cong transmission line project (the section within Vietnamese territory).

The 220 kV Nam Sum – Nong Cong transmission line project, with EVNNPT as the investor and the Northern Power Projects Management Board (NPMB) as the project management and operation board, commenced in December 2021.

The project has a scale of 2 circuits, nearly 130 km long, with 299 tower locations and 99 spans, passing through Que Phong and Quy Chau districts ( Nghe An province), and Nhu Xuan, Nhu Thanh, and Nong Cong districts (Thanh Hoa province).

The investor's acceptance council unanimously agreed that the project is eligible for commissioning.

The section passing through Nghe An province is 77.31 km long and includes 174 pole foundation locations. The section passing through Thanh Hoa province is 52.64 km long and includes 125 pole foundation locations. A total of 234 pole foundation locations along the entire route are affected by forest cover.

This is an urgent project, invested in and constructed with the aim of importing electricity from the Nam Sum hydropower plant complex (Laos) to Vietnam to meet the growing demand of the power system in the northern region. It also concretizes the commitment between the Parties and Governments of Vietnam and Laos in strengthening energy cooperation.

To date, the entire foundation site has been handed over.

Members of the Acceptance Council acknowledged that the project's successful completion was due to the close guidance and management of the State Steering Committee for Key Energy Projects, the leadership of EVN and EVNNPT, and the tremendous efforts of NPMB and the units participating in the project.

At the meeting, the council members unanimously agreed that the project was eligible for commissioning, while also pointing out some issues that need to be addressed before commissioning.

Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Tan, Deputy General Director of EVNNPT and Chairman of the Investor-level Acceptance Council, acknowledged and highly appreciated NPMB and the units participating in the project for their great efforts in overcoming many difficulties and challenges related to land clearance, difficult construction terrain conditions, and unpredictable weather. However, with the support of the Government, ministries, EVN, and local authorities where the power line passes through, the project has now been basically completed.

The project has been constructed according to design, ensuring technical requirements are met and it is eligible for technical energization.

The investor-level acceptance council approves the completion of all items related to the power line. The investor-level acceptance council assigns the local acceptance council to review the remaining items and carry out the necessary procedures to energize the line as per regulations.
