Billionaire Elon Musk left Shanghai on June 1st, concluding a trip to China in which he met with top officials and visited Tesla's megafactory in Shanghai.
Tesla's CEO also met with Chinese Vice Premier Ding Xuexiang on the afternoon of May 31 in Beijing, Reuters reported.
Although details were not disclosed, Reuters reported that the meeting followed talks with China's trade and industry ministers and foreign minister.
Mr. Ding is the sixth-highest ranking leader in the Politburo Standing Committee, the top governing body led by President Xi Jinping. He previously served as Xi Jinping's chief of staff before his promotion in 2022. He is an aide to Premier Li Qiang in managing the world's second-largest economy.

This was the first time Mr. Ding had met directly with a foreign CEO, and his discussion with Mr. Musk showed that China truly values its relationship with Tesla. The country is Tesla's second-largest market and home to the electric vehicle manufacturer's largest production center.
It remains unclear whether Mr. Musk met with Prime Minister Li Qiang during his recent trip. Mr. Musk left Shanghai on the morning of May 31st, concluding a two-day trip to China. During this trip, he also met with a battery supplier and visited Tesla's megafactory in Shanghai.
Musk's first visit to China in three years comes as the country seeks to create a more business-friendly environment for foreign companies after a long period of tight control over the Covid-19 pandemic, while geopolitical tensions with the US continue to escalate .
