Nearly 40 billion VND was registered for support at the launching ceremony of the Peak Month "For the Poor"

Mr. Nguyen Phuoc Loc - Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City; Ms. Tran Thi Dieu Thuy - Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee attended.

Speaking here, Mr. Nguyen Phuoc Loc expressed his thanks for the kindness and noble gestures of individuals, units and organizations that have actively responded to practically support the poor through the Fund for the Poor at all levels and social security programs in the city.

According to Mr. Loc, through many support solutions from the city's policies, the help of the social community, the participation of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and efforts to escape poverty, the poverty rate has been reduced from 1.49% to 0.33%, exceeding the target set by the 11th City Party Resolution ahead of schedule.

To sustainably reduce poverty in the city, Mr. Nguyen Phuoc Loc requested Party committees and authorities at all levels to direct functional branches to closely and synchronously coordinate with the Vietnam Fatherland Front at all levels; regularly review the number of poor and near-poor households to ensure social security policies...

According to the Organizing Committee, this year's "For the Poor" peak month was focused on by Ho Chi Minh City from October 17 to November 18. At this launching ceremony, socio- political organizations, businesses, and the Vietnam Fatherland Front system at all levels responded to build and repair 358 temporary and dilapidated houses worth VND20 billion 440 million; Ho Chi Minh City's "For the Poor" Fund received support and registration from 45 organizations and individuals with more than VND18.9 billion.
