To ensure that children's summer days are truly enriching, joyful, and safe, the Party Committee, the government, and each family in Gia Vien district have made efforts to create playgrounds and guide children towards interesting and meaningful experiences.
Summer is an opportunity for parents to take trips that fulfill their children's wishes and promises. But instead of long-distance trips, Ms. Ngoc Bich's family (Me town, Gia Vien district) chose a tourist destination right within the province.
Ms. Bich shared: "Normally, during the summer break, my family organizes a short trip. This is an opportunity for the children to rest after a year of hard studying, and also a chance to bond with family members. However, instead of traveling far away, this year I chose to travel right in my hometown."
According to Ms. Bich, there are also many beautiful places in her hometown. Therefore, she will choose attractive destinations with historical significance for her children to experience. Although traveling near home means each trip is short, it's an opportunity for children to love and be proud of their hometown even more.
" In addition, I will also let my children participate in harvesting rice and vegetables and learn to do household chores such as sweeping the house, tending to plants, folding clothes... so that they learn to appreciate the value of labor. Then, based on their interests, I will choose for them to participate in life skills classes, both for relaxation and to accumulate experiences and equip them with necessary life skills," added Ms. Ngoc Bich.
However, summer is also a time when unfortunate accidents and injuries to children are more likely to occur. Meanwhile, parents are busy working and therefore do not have the opportunity to supervise their children regularly. Through discussions, most parents expressed their desire for more safe and beneficial playgrounds, and more training courses on accident and injury prevention for children to be opened in their localities.
In collaboration with families, over the years, the Party committees and authorities at all levels in Gia Vien district have effectively implemented programs and projects on protecting, caring for, and educating children, based on diverse resources, leveraging the strength of the entire society, and adapting to the practical situation of each locality and unit.
The mobilization and utilization of resources to achieve goals for children are receiving attention; children's rights are increasingly being fully, effectively, and substantively implemented. The promulgation and implementation of specific policies for children have received high public consensus, notably the provision of health insurance cards for children from poor, near-poor, and newly-escaped-from-poverty households.
In addition, units and localities have regularly paid attention to, invested in, repaired, and upgraded the facilities of cultural and sports venues and playgrounds in the community... so that all children can play in a safe space.
Ms. Vu Thi Duoc, Vice Chairman of the Gia Vien District People's Committee, said: Every year, in order to create a fun and beneficial playground to help children develop comprehensively, Gia Vien district has directed functional units to develop plans to prepare activities to attract children during the summer. This summer, starting from the end of May, the District People's Committee has developed a plan and assigned specific tasks to specialized departments and related units to implement activities to ensure children have a fun and beneficial summer.
Accordingly, Gia Vien district has assigned the District Youth Union the task of directing grassroots youth organizations to organize diverse activities to attract children to participate in activities in the green bamboo groves. It has also directed the District Cultural, Sports and Broadcasting Center to make thorough preparations regarding facilities to organize talent classes for children such as martial arts, singing and dancing, swimming, etc. In particular, to create conditions for all children to enjoy a joyful summer, the district has also directed communes and towns to establish performing arts groups and organize cultural and artistic programs at village and hamlet cultural centers.
In particular, the district has also collaborated with the Ninh Binh Cheo Theater to open training courses to improve the quality of Cheo and Van singing and the use of traditional musical instruments for arts clubs in the district, many of which are children. After training, competitions and cultural and sports exchanges will be organized between villages and hamlets. This creates enthusiasm not only for children but also for adults, contributing to strengthening community bonds and improving the spiritual life of rural people.
This year's Month of Action for Children, running from June 1st to June 30th with the theme "Practical Action, Prioritizing Resources for Children," has been implemented in Gia Vien district through many meaningful and practical activities. The highlight of these activities is community-based communication campaigns aimed at equipping parents and caregivers with knowledge and skills to protect children; preventing accidents, injuries, drowning, abuse, and violence against children.
In particular, during this Action Month, Gia Vien district also mobilized businesses and philanthropists to participate in meaningful activities for disadvantaged children such as: giving gifts and scholarships to poor children, children in remote areas, children with special circumstances, providing financial support for medical treatment for children with serious illnesses… helping them have enough health to study and play healthily.
