Vietnam Railways Corporation announced that the railway will continue to apply its regular fare reduction policy for social policy beneficiaries when purchasing train tickets for the Lunar New Year 2025 (Year of the Snake).
Accordingly, Vietnamese Heroic Mothers and those who participated in revolutionary activities before the general uprising of August 19, 1945, are entitled to a 90% discount on tickets. War invalids, those receiving benefits similar to war invalids, those who participated in the resistance war and were exposed to chemical toxins; and those with severe and profound disabilities are entitled to a 30% discount on tickets.

Senior citizens aged 60 and above who are Vietnamese citizens receive a 15% discount on tickets. Union members receive a 5% discount when purchasing individual tickets.
Students from universities, academies, colleges, vocational high schools, and training centers who purchase train tickets between January 15th and 21st, 2025 (corresponding to the 16th to 22nd day of the 12th lunar month for even-numbered trains traveling from South to North) and between February 10th and 16th, 2025 (corresponding to the 13th to 19th day of the 1st lunar month for odd-numbered trains traveling from North to South) will receive a 20% discount on their tickets.
Specifically, children aged 6-10 receive a 25% discount on tickets. Children under 6 years old accompanied by an adult travel free. Free-fare children share a seat with their accompanying adult. Each adult may accompany a maximum of two free-fare children.
The railway will not sell supplemental tickets for children on Tet (Lunar New Year) 2025 trains. However, supplemental tickets for children who are eligible to purchase tickets will still be available. Accordingly, passengers traveling with children who purchase sleeper or seated tickets must voluntarily write on a form: "Request to purchase a supplemental child seat and will ensure the child's safety when sharing a seat with an adult." Each adult passenger ticket can be accompanied by one supplemental child seat ticket, which will be assigned to share a seat with the accompanying adult on the train.
Additional seat tickets are also sold to armed forces and police officers on sudden assignments, demobilization, or enlistment; and to journalists on assignment.
