Winning 3 Gold Medals at the Chemistry Olympiad, the Vietnamese team ranked 2nd in the world

The 3 Gold Medals went to: Nguyen Huu Tien Hung, grade 12, Bac Ninh High School for the Gifted, Bac Ninh province; Giap Vu Son Ha, grade 12, Bac Giang High School for the Gifted, Bac Giang province; Tran Dang Khoi, grade 12, Hanoi - Amsterdam High School for the Gifted, Hanoi. The Silver Medal went to Do Phu Quoc, grade 12, Le Thanh Tong High School for the Gifted, Quang Nam province.

With 3 Gold Medals and 1 Silver Medal, Vietnam ranked 2nd at the 2024 International Chemistry Olympiad.

The 56th International Chemistry Olympiad was held from July 21 to 30, 2024 in Saudi Arabia with the participation of 327 contestants from 89 countries and territories.

The exam includes a theory test and a practical test, each test is conducted within 5 hours. This year's practical test is considered to have many new and topical points, requiring candidates to have the ability to think comprehensively and perform operational skills accurately. The theoretical test deals with the applications of chemistry in industry, environmental pollution treatment, advanced materials, etc.

With 3 Gold Medals and 1 Silver Medal, the Vietnamese team ranked second with the US team and only behind the Chinese team.

This year's achievements of the Vietnamese national team continue the impressive achievements at ICHO Competitions in the past 5 years. With a total of 20 contestants participating from 2020 - 2024, the Vietnamese team excellently won 20/20 medals, including 17 Gold Medals and 3 Silver Medals, continuously being in the top 3 leading countries in terms of the number of Gold Medals.

This achievement continues to affirm the quality of spearhead general education alongside mass education. At the same time, it affirms the right direction in the work of discovering, selecting and nurturing excellent students of the Ministry of Education and Training .
