TPO - The extremely high volume of vehicles often leads to chaotic traffic conditions at the An Phu intersection (Ho Chi Minh City) during rush hour, causing significant difficulties for commuters.

The An Phu intersection (Thu Duc City) is one of the important traffic junctions in the eastern gateway area of Ho Chi Minh City, connecting major arterial roads such as Mai Chi Tho, Vo Nguyen Giap, Dong Van Cong, etc., and is the starting point of the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay expressway.

Currently, this intersection is undergoing construction on many items such as underpasses and overpasses... some sections of the road are narrowed by construction barriers.

This is also the main reason why traffic in this area is often congested for extended periods during peak hours.

The An Phu intersection always experiences a very high volume of traffic, especially container trucks. Therefore, the construction of the three-level interchange is being prioritized and expedited to ensure the entire project is completed by April 2025.

It is estimated that around 20,000 container trucks pass through this intersection every day. According to drivers, the waiting time at the red lights at this intersection is quite long. The red light for the direction from the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay Expressway towards the city center is so long that traffic jams on the expressway exit from Dong Nai towards Ho Chi Minh City are commonplace.

The section of Mai Chi Tho road from the Dong Van Cong intersection to the An Phu intersection has become a "bottleneck," with traffic congestion caused by construction barriers occupying a portion of the road.

According to the project investor, the consulting unit and the project owner are studying a plan to close the Mai Chi Tho - Dong Van Cong intersection for 4 months to simultaneously construct the underpass and overpass there, thereby shortening the project's timeline.
