Strange well in Gia Lai still sprays water column 7m high for a whole month

(Dan Tri) - The second well in Gia Lai has been spewing out a column of gas and water nearly 7 meters high for a month now. Due to the strong pressure, the owner's family has not been able to plug the well with this strange phenomenon.

On January 8th, according to observations by a reporter from Dan Tri newspaper, after a month, the well of Mr. Bui Van Tu's family (born in 1988, residing in Ia Phin commune, Chu Prong district, Gia Lai province) was still gushing strongly, creating a column of air and water nearly 7 meters high.

Mr. Tu's family bought wire mesh to fence around the well to prevent curious people and children from getting close.

"For the past month, the water pressure has decreased but not significantly so I have not been able to fill it back up. Previously, people and children often came near the well to observe and play. I was worried that the high pressure would be dangerous, so I bought an iron net to fence it off. Before Tet, my family will try dropping a concrete pillar down to see if it works," said Mr. Tu.

According to the representative of Ia Phin Commune People's Committee, the phenomenon of wells spewing gas and water is an undesirable event.

When the incident occurred, representatives from the Department of Natural Resources and Environment of Chu Prong district and the People's Committee of the commune came to the scene to inspect. Afterwards, the commune issued a notice requesting people to comply with regulations on the use of groundwater, and to report to the authorities when drilling wells.

"Many people who drilled wells near Mr. Tu's house also found no water. Commune officials regularly come down to check, and if the pressure decreases, they will fill the well with the family to ensure the safety of the people and prevent curiosity," a representative of the Ia Phin Commune People's Committee said.

As reported by Dan Tri newspaper , on the afternoon of December 8, 2024, while Bui Van Tu's family was drilling a well in their coffee plantation in Hung Tien village, Ia Phin commune, gas and water suddenly erupted from the ground. The water gushed out under high pressure, forming a column nearly 10 meters high.

Seeing this strange phenomenon, the family used concrete pillars to lower down into the water. However, the concrete pillars were all pushed back up to the surface by the water pressure.

Similarly, after the earthquake tremors in Kon Tum province in July 2024, strange noises also appeared in the well of Mr. Dam Xuan Hoa's family in Ia Kly commune, Chu Prong district.

When Mr. Hoa's family drilled a well to a depth of 180 meters to find a water source, a sudden phenomenon occurred where a strong stream of water and gas erupted from the ground, forming a column tens of meters high.

After that, his family used concrete pillars to cover the well. For more than 2 months now, this well has not had any strange phenomenon anymore.
