This unique atmosphere of the restaurant piques the curiosity of many diners, who seek to experience it for themselves, even though the price per bowl of vermicelli is higher than average.
Located in a small alley on Au Co Street (Hanoi), the restaurant isn't easily recognizable unless you look carefully. Without a large sign, Van Xuan Hue -style beef noodle soup is situated within the grounds of an old villa.
Many diners say they come here to see if a familiar dish tastes any different when enjoyed in such a unique setting.

Many people linger after finishing their meal to take photos and chat, viewing it as a relaxing culinary experience rather than just a regular lunch.
Ms. Nguyen Thuy Linh (27 years old, Hanoi) said she came to the restaurant out of curiosity. “I was quite surprised because the restaurant is located in a small alley but the space is spacious and quiet. Normally, eating beef noodle soup only takes about 15-20 minutes, but here my friends and I can sit longer, eating and chatting,” Ms. Linh said.
According to Ms. Linh, the price of over 100,000 VND for a bowl of Hue-style beef noodle soup is higher than the average, but in return, customers get a unique experience.
Bun bo Hue (Hue-style beef noodle soup) at this restaurant costs approximately 65,000-110,000 VND per bowl, depending on the customer's choice. The restaurant is open from 6 am to 2 pm daily, mainly serving breakfast and lunch. Customers can choose to sit outside in the courtyard or inside the villa.

The villa was rented by chef Vo Quoc, the owner of the beef noodle soup restaurant, to use as a business premises.
Regarding the rental costs and the value of the villa, Mr. Vo Quoc did not disclose specifics. "When we decided to choose this villa as the location for our restaurant, we had to almost completely renovate the exterior. Therefore, the investment was quite substantial," Mr. Quoc said.

Ms. Nguyen Hong Nhung (31 years old, Hanoi) said that she had returned to the restaurant for the third time this week. What she remembered most after eating was the distinct flavor of Hue-style beef noodle soup compared to many other places she had tried before. According to Ms. Nhung, the broth retained its lightness and a subtly sweet aftertaste, while the ingredients didn't overpower each other.
"The broth here isn't overly flavored with chili paste, and the spiciness is just right, so it's not harsh or quickly tiresome. I can clearly taste the flavor of each ingredient in the bowl of vermicelli, from the broth to the beef and pork, instead of just feeling spicy and salty like at some other places," Ms. Nhung shared.
Not far from Nhung's table, Nguyen Thanh Mai (25 years old, Hanoi) also came to the cafe to try it out after seeing pictures of it on social media. Thanh Mai said she was impressed with the cafe's space because it was quite beautiful, suitable for taking photos and having a great experience.

"I guess this villa must be worth tens of billions of dong, maybe even hundreds of billions of dong, because real estate prices in this area are very expensive, and the rent must be high too. However, the restaurant doesn't charge a fee for customers taking photos, so it's quite convenient. If you come here to eat and take pictures, I think it's very suitable," said Ms. Mai.
In addition, Ms. Thanh Mai frankly stated that the prices at the restaurant might be a factor that some people consider.
"If you only come to eat Hue-style beef noodle soup, the price is a bit high compared to many other restaurants, but for those who want to combine dining with experiencing the atmosphere, it's acceptable. Besides Hue-style beef noodle soup, I also really like the Hue-style cakes at the restaurant," Ms. Mai confided.

"I opened this beef noodle soup restaurant so people can try it out. If they find it delicious, they can come over... right next door to learn how to cook beef noodle soup," Mr. Vo Quoc jokingly said.
Besides Hue-style beef noodle soup, the restaurant also serves several types of Hue-style cakes such as banh nam, banh beo, and banh bot loc. According to the owner, these cakes are shipped directly from Hue to Hanoi, then steamed and served on the same day to preserve their authentic flavor.
Speaking to a reporter from Dan Tri newspaper , chef Vo Quoc said that the broth is cooked in a special way, in which chili paste plays an important role but must not be too strong.
"Hue-style beef noodle soup must be spicy, but it's a mild, tingling spiciness, just enough to stimulate the taste buds. If it's too spicy, it will numb the tongue, and diners won't be able to fully appreciate the sweetness of the broth and ingredients. That's my own recipe, developed through years of research and learning," shared chef Vo Quoc.
