Hanoi has 6 students participating in the 2024 International Youth Science Olympiad

The 2024 International Junior Science Olympiad (IJSO) will take place from December 2nd to 12th in Romania. The Hanoi team representing Vietnam at this competition consists of 6 members.


On the afternoon of November 27th, the Hanoi Department of Education and Training (DOET) held a meeting with the student team preparing to participate in the 2024 International Junior Science Olympiad.

The Hanoi team representing Vietnam in this competition consists of 6 members: 3 students from Hanoi - Amsterdam High School for Gifted Students, 1 student from Nguyen Hue High School for Gifted Students, and 2 students from Newton Secondary and High School.

These are the most outstanding individuals selected from over 200 high school students who participated in the selection exam for the team to compete in the International Junior Science Olympiad organized by the Hanoi Department of Education and Training.

In preparation for the exam, the team spent two months in intensive training and coaching with the teachers in charge of the team.

This year's International Junior Science Olympiad took place from December 2nd to 12th in Romania, with participation from students from 56 countries and territories. Each national team consisted of 6 students. The students had 240 minutes to complete the exam, which covered three main fields: Physics, Chemistry, and Biology.

For many years, the Hanoi Department of Education and Training has been entrusted by the Ministry of Education and Training and the Hanoi People's Committee with the task of selecting and forming student delegations to participate in the IJSO competition, consistently achieving outstanding results and contributing to affirming the quality and prestige of Vietnam's advanced education system to other countries.

Throughout their participation in the IJSO competition (from 2007 to 2023), the Hanoi IJSO team, representing Vietnam, has consistently achieved high results with a total of 77 medals, including 16 gold medals.

Acknowledging and commending the efforts and achievements of Hanoi students in national and international examinations over the years, the Director of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training, Tran The Cuong, affirmed that with the attention of the city's leaders, schools, and the support of parents, Hanoi's education system is achieving increasingly high results.

With thorough, meticulous, and comprehensive preparation, Mr. Cuong is confident that the team participating in this year's International Junior Science Olympiad will excellently fulfill its mission and achieve many proud results.
