Hanoi manages health insurance medical examination and treatment expenses to ensure efficiency

1. Accordingly, the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City has assigned the Social Insurance (BHXH) Region I to notify healthcare facilities of the projected health insurance expenditure for medical examination and treatment in 2025, based on the health insurance expenditure budget allocated to BHXH Region I by Vietnam Social Insurance.

In addition, the Social Insurance Agency of Region I is strengthening its communication efforts regarding health insurance, implementing solutions to encourage people to participate in health insurance tailored to each target group, and achieving the assigned health insurance coverage target.

The Hanoi Department of Health will take the lead and coordinate with the Social Insurance Agency Region I and relevant agencies to inspect the use of the health insurance fund, prevent abuse and profiteering from the health insurance fund; and must develop plans and solutions for managing and controlling health insurance medical examination and treatment expenses, ensuring efficiency and cost-effectiveness.

These facilities must ensure compliance with regulations on medical examination and treatment, and provide sufficient medicines, medical supplies, and technical services for health insurance participants. At the same time, medical facilities must proactively review and adjust for increased health insurance medical examination and treatment costs, especially unreasonable costs as warned by the Social Insurance agency.

Previously, the Hanoi People's Committee also issued two Decisions: Decision No. 1579/QD-UBND on regulating the functions, tasks, powers and organizational structure of the Health Center (under the People's Committee of Ha Dong District); and Decision No. 1580/QD-UBND on regulating the functions, tasks, powers and organizational structure of the Health Center (under the People's Committee of Quoc Oai District).
