(HNMO) - On the afternoon of June 7th, the Hanoi Department of Tourism announced that it plans to strengthen the promotion of restaurants and food establishments that have recently been awarded Michelin stars and honored in the list of recommendations for tourists visiting Hanoi.
As HNMO reported , on the evening of June 6, 2023, Michelin announced the list of restaurants that met Michelin's standards. Among the 103 restaurants selected by the Michelin Guide, Hanoi had 48 representatives, including 3 restaurants awarded "1 Michelin star"; 13 restaurants receiving the award for best restaurant at an affordable price (Bib Gourmand); 32 restaurants on the Michelin Selected list; and 1 Michelin Award for Outstanding Young Chef.
With Hanoi having a Michelin-starred restaurant – a prestigious award in the world of gastronomy – this is good news for the capital's tourism industry. It's a great opportunity to widely promote Hanoi's cuisine to the world, and also motivates restaurants and eateries to improve their service style, ensure food safety and hygiene, innovate in cooking methods, and create unique spaces to provide diverse experiences for customers.
Prior to this highly anticipated event, the Hanoi Department of Tourism announced that, according to the city's tourism development plan until 2030, culinary products and services will be diversified, focusing on unique offerings such as night food streets, traditional craft villages, and a system of restaurants to meet the needs of both locals and tourists.
To exploit and develop culinary tourism products into a strength of Hanoi's tourism, in the coming time, the Hanoi Department of Tourism will promote Michelin-starred restaurants alongside other reputable restaurants and eateries in Hanoi through Hanoi tourism promotion programs on media channels, social networks, and at domestic and international tourism promotion events.
In addition, the Department of Tourism has a policy of developing a "food tour map" so that tourists can explore and experience local cuisine on their own. The Department will coordinate with localities to disseminate knowledge on ensuring food safety and hygiene, communication skills, and improving the quality of service for tourists, especially strengthening inspection and supervision of establishments that meet standards for serving tourists to continue maintaining and improving the image and quality of tourism in the capital in the future.
According to Dang Huong Giang, Director of the Hanoi Department of Tourism, having a representative restaurant on the Michelin-starred list will contribute to elevating Hanoi's cuisine in particular, and Vietnamese cuisine in general, on the world culinary tourism map.
