This phenomenon has been warned about by the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting due to recent hot weather in the capital and northern provinces. Mr. Hoang Phuc Lam, Deputy Director of the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, stated that hot and humid weather is not a favorable condition for typhoons to enter or not enter the North. However, the transition from hot weather to rain, specifically the pre-typhoon rain on September 6th in the Northeast and Hanoi, will lead to a higher risk of thunderstorms, tornadoes, and lightning. At 1 PM this afternoon, Super Typhoon Yagi was located at approximately 19.8 degrees North latitude; 111.2 degrees East longitude, in the sea northeast of Hainan Island, about 450 km east-southeast of Quang Ninh . The super typhoon is at level 16 (184-201 km/h), with gusts exceeding level 17, moving in a west-northwest direction at a speed of 15-20 km/h.
People were surprised by the sudden change in weather to thunderstorms.

In the following hours, super typhoon Yagi continued to sweep across Hainan Island and downgraded by 2 levels before entering the Gulf of Tonkin. At 1:00 a.m. on September 7, typhoon Yagi was at 20.4 degrees north latitude; 109.1 degrees east longitude; in the eastern sea of the Gulf of Tonkin, about 230 km east-southeast of Quang Ninh. The storm was at level 14, gusting at level 17. In the following hours, typhoon Yagi continued to move inland at a speed of 20 km/h and made landfall in the Quang Ninh - Nam Dinh area. At 1:00 p.m. on September 7, typhoon Yagi was at 20.9 degrees north latitude; 107.2 degrees east longitude in the coastal areas of Quang Ninh - Nam Dinh provinces. The storm was at level 12, gusting at level 15, then continued to move deeper into the mainland, then weakened and gradually dissipated. In addition, the Northeast region, provinces from Thanh Hoa to Thua Thien - Hue will have thunderstorms today due to the impact of the outer ring of super typhoon Yagi. Due to the influence of super typhoon Yagi, from the night of September 6 to 9, in the North and Thanh Hoa regions, there is a possibility of heavy rain, locally very heavy rain and thunderstorms with total rainfall ranging from 100 - 350 mm, in some places over 500 mm (the heaviest rain in the Northeast will be concentrated during the day and night of September 7, in the Northwest from the evening of September 7 to 9).
