"Last week, Qatar attempted to negotiate the release of 75 detainees in Gaza in exchange for the release of 200 Palestinian children," said Abu Ubaida, spokesman for Hamas's armed wing al-Qassam.

“The ceasefire agreement should include a complete ceasefire and allow humanitarian aid and relief everywhere in the Gaza Strip,” he added.

Hamas also accused Israel of "delaying and avoiding" reaching this agreement, and "accused" Israel of disregarding the lives of hostages with indiscriminate airstrikes.

Israel has repeatedly said that a ceasefire now would give Hamas time to rest and regroup.
