Tens of thousands of households in Thu Duc City and South Saigon have had their water cut off.

To maintain the electrical cabinet of BOO Thu Duc water plant, tens of thousands of households in District 7, 8, Nha Be, Can Gio, Binh Chanh, Thu Duc City will have their water cut off or have weak water on weekend nights.

The water will be cut off for 3 hours, from 11pm on November 11 to 2am on November 12. The entire water cut off area includes: District 7 (except Tan Thuan Export Processing Zone), Nha Be and Can Gio districts. District 8 includes wards: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 8, 9.

11 areas in Thu Duc City will also have their water cut off during the maintenance period, including: An Phu, Binh An, Binh Khanh, An Khanh, Thu Thiem, An Loi Dong, Phuoc Binh, Phuoc Long A, Phuoc Long B, Tang Nhon Phu B wards and the High-Tech Park. In Binh Chanh, the water will be cut off in all of Binh Hung and Phong Phu communes, which have weak water supply.

Saigon Water Corporation (Sawaco) said that when the water supply system is restored, some remote areas may recover more slowly than expected. The unit will regulate the water supply network and increase water supply by tanker trucks to important affected areas.

BOO Thu Duc Water Plant was inaugurated in 2010 with a total investment of 1,600 billion VND, providing clean water to nearly one million people in the eastern and southern districts of Ho Chi Minh City. The project has a raw water pumping station with a capacity of 315,000 m3/day; a water treatment plant with a capacity of 300,000 m3/day; a clean water pipeline nearly 26 km long with diameters ranging from D900 mm to D2000 mm.
