HEINEKEN Vietnam commits to a better Vietnam in the new era

(Dan Tri) - At the Vietnam Corporate Sustainability Forum (VCSF) 2025, HEINEKEN Vietnam affirmed its commitment to sustainable development for a better Vietnam in the new era.

VCSF 2025 continues to affirm its role as a bridge for policy dialogue and sharing of practices between businesses and the Government in the context of increasingly deep global integration to seek companion solutions in sustainable development.

The theme “Sustainable Development in the New Era: Turning Aspiration into Action” reflects Vietnam’s current stage of development – ​​both accelerating the implementation of socio- economic goals and seeking appropriate solutions to many major challenges regarding the environment, energy and climate change.

During the seminar, Ms. Pham Thi Truc Thanh, Director of Sustainable Development of HEINEKEN Vietnam, shared the journey of more than 30 years of accompanying the enterprise. Accordingly, through many favorable and difficult periods, HEINEKEN Vietnam has developed into one of the FDI enterprises that greatly contributed to the country with 5 breweries spread across three regions, creating more than 172,000 jobs in the value chain.

With its global strategy to 2030, HEINEKEN Vietnam affirms that sustainable development continues to be placed on par with financial goals to achieve the ambition of “Brewing a Better Vietnam”. The company pursues this roadmap through three key pillars: environment, society and responsible drinking.

According to Ms. Thanh, the profound changes in the world context pose urgent demands for businesses. The ways of the past are no longer enough to solve new challenges; instead, it is necessary to promote creative thinking, multi-stakeholder cooperation and more decisive action. In addition to aiming for profits, businesses need to consider sustainable development as a driving force for value creation, while linking that process with innovation and partnerships. This is also the way to help Vietnamese businesses improve their competitiveness in the new era.

HEINEKEN Vietnam has achieved many successes on its journey of sustainable development in Vietnam.

HEINEKEN Vietnam is one of the pioneers in transforming commitments into concrete results. Regarding the circular economy, the company has implemented the “From aluminum can to aluminum can” project, recycling used aluminum cans into new aluminum cans, contributing to reducing greenhouse gas emissions within Scope 3, while providing practical support to the informal collector force, which is an important but often overlooked part of the recycling chain.

Regarding water resources, HEINEKEN Vietnam has cooperated with the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment to implement a water conservation project in the Red River, Dong Nai River, and Tien River basins. Thanks to the efforts of the three parties, the company's goal of water compensation in the Tien River basin was completed 5 years ahead of schedule, bringing sustainable benefits to the environment and the community.

At the same time, HEINEKEN Vietnam strives to build a responsible drinking culture by promoting Heineken 0.0, and works with the National Traffic Safety Committee, the Ho Chi Minh City Traffic Police Department and technology car units to promote the behavior of "If you drink, don't drive" in the community.
