Many noteworthy results
The task of supporting poor households to eliminate temporary housing and develop family economies presents many challenges. One of the biggest difficulties is securing external resources, which are not clearly defined and are difficult to mobilize fully. This has led leaders to constantly ponder and explore effective implementation methods.
To overcome these difficulties, the district has identified key directions: Developing specific and practical solutions. Each household and each situation is carefully considered to provide the most practical support; persistently adhering to the objectives. The proposed solutions must be monitored and implemented to completion, avoiding any unfinished or ineffective work… Specific tasks are assigned to each individual and working group, ensuring that each part is completed on schedule and to a high standard.
These factors not only help the locality overcome immediate difficulties but also lay the groundwork for achieving long-term goals.
Through the implementation process, Son Duong district has achieved many positive results. In 2023, hundreds of new, spacious houses were built thanks to the support of the State and the joint efforts of the community. A typical example is the family of Mr. Tran Van Diep, in Phu Luong commune. After nearly 10 years living in a temporary house, thanks to the support of 50 million VND from the State, along with help from relatives and additional loans, Mr. Diep was able to build a solid house. He shared: “Having a new house this year, my whole family is very happy. My wife and I will try our best to work hard to develop our economy.”
Beyond simply supporting house construction, Son Duong district has implemented numerous measures to help poor households develop sustainable economies. Agricultural and livestock farming models are encouraged, combined with preferential loan policies, creating opportunities for people to improve their lives.
The community works together for a common goal.
One of the highlights in the poverty reduction journey in Son Duong is the coordinated mobilization of the entire political system and the joint efforts of the community. The local government organized widespread propaganda and solicited contributions from businesses, organizations, and benevolent individuals.
The Fatherland Front plays a core role in connecting resources to support poor households. At the same time, all levels of government coordinate closely to review and classify beneficiaries, ensuring that support is allocated fairly and to the right recipients.
For example, in Hop Hoa commune, the family of Ms. Ha Thi Lam, a poor household with particularly difficult circumstances, received support to build a "Great Solidarity" house. Ms. Lam shared:
"Thanks to the 50 million VND in government support and the help of our neighbors, my family now has a decent house to celebrate Tet. We are very grateful for the concern shown by the authorities at all levels."
In the first two years of the 2022-2025 period, Son Duong district completed the construction and repair of 1,243 houses for poor households, families entitled to preferential policies, and ethnic minority communities. The total cost of implementation reached nearly 70 billion VND, mobilized from various sources.
In 2024 alone, the district built and renovated 388 houses. These results not only improve the lives of thousands of households but also serve as a driving force for Son Duong to move closer to achieving the new rural standard by 2025.
Besides resources from the State, the district is also actively encouraging the participation of businesses, organizations, and individuals. These contributions not only help reduce the burden on the budget but also spread a spirit of solidarity and responsibility within the community.
Mr. Giang Tuan Anh, Chairman of the People's Committee of Son Duong District, Tuyen Quang Province, shared: "We determined that the first thing is to trust and assign specific responsibilities to each individual, especially the leaders. The creativity, responsibility, and exemplary conduct of officials and Party members have brought about positive results."
The journey of poverty eradication in Son Duong district is a clear testament to the tireless efforts of the entire political system and the community. From initial difficulties, thanks to unity and determination, thousands of families have secured stable housing, creating a foundation for sustainable poverty alleviation.
With clear direction, innovative approaches, and the collective efforts of the entire community, Son Duong district is steadily progressing on its path to becoming a new rural district by 2025.
