On January 18th, a reporter from Tien Phong newspaper observed that the water level in the Thu Dau Mot market area (Phu Cuong ward, Thu Dau Mot city, Binh Duong province) had risen, causing flooding on the roads.

Thu Dau Mot Market was built and has existed for nearly 200 years. It is the largest and oldest market in Binh Duong province, located adjacent to the Saigon River.

Located near the Saigon River, Thu Dau Mot Market is affected by high tides. Flooded roads have impacted the shopping and transportation needs of residents and vendors.

According to the Standing Office of the Steering Committee for Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue in Binh Duong province, the high tide on the Saigon River has caused flooding on several inner-city roads in Thu Dau Mot city.

Previously, the Standing Office of the Steering Committee for Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue of Binh Duong province issued a warning about high tides in the lower reaches of the Saigon River. The highest daily tide peaks will occur in the morning from 3:00 AM to 7:00 AM and in the afternoon from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, potentially reaching 1.63m to 1.68m, 0.03m to 0.08m higher than alarm level III at the Thu Dau Mot station (Ba Lua port). The level of natural disaster risk due to high tides in Thu Dau Mot city and Thuan An city is at level 1.

The Standing Office of the Steering Committee for Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue of Binh Duong Province requests the Steering Committees for Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue of Thu Dau Mot City, Thuan An, Ben Cat, and the Center for Investment and Exploitation of Irrigation and Rural Clean Water to regularly inspect and review vulnerable dikes, embankments, and canal banks; reinforce and repair sections that have previously been breached or overflowed to ensure flood protection during subsequent high tides; and advise residents in areas frequently affected by high tides to proactively take preventive measures and pay attention to the safety of people and property.
