Nam Dinh Club is anxiously waiting for Xuan Son.
Nam Dinh FC will face Hanoi Police FC in the National Super Cup match at 6 PM on August 9th at Thien Truong Stadium in Ninh Binh province. At the press conference before the match, coach Vu Hong Viet provided an update on striker Nguyen Xuan Son's injury recovery.
Xuan Son is in the final stages of recovering from the injury he sustained in the second leg of the 2024 AFF Cup final (between Vietnam and Thailand) in January 2025. After successful surgery, doctors diagnosed that Xuan Son could return in September or October. For many months, the medical team has also regularly visited and consulted with him to monitor his recovery progress.

However, coach Vu Hong Viet affirmed that Xuan Son is unlikely to return in the first half of the 2025-2026 V-League season, while hoping he will return to play in the second half. Currently, Xuan Son is in Brazil for rehabilitation and rest. Nam Dinh Club will update on the recovery progress of the player wearing jersey number 12 to plan their squad.
Xuan Son joined Nam Dinh FC in the 2020 season, then moved to Da Nang and Binh Dinh before returning to Thien Truong Stadium in the 2023-2024 season. There, the Brazilian-born striker scored 31 goals in 26 matches, helping Nam Dinh FC win the V-League for the first time. An injury sustained at the 2024 AFF Cup caused Xuan Son to miss the second half of the 2024-2025 season. However, Nam Dinh FC still extended his contract, securing his future despite his inability to return to the pitch.
Returning to the National Super Cup match, coach Vu Hong Viet emphasized: "Nothing can be said for sure until the ball starts rolling. This is an important match, the opening game of the new season, so both teams will certainly be very determined. For us, the desire to win is even greater when playing at our home stadium, Thien Truong."

The coach of Nam Dinh team also provided information about the training camp in South Korea to prepare for the new season: "We had a training camp and played friendly matches in South Korea. This was an important opportunity to help the players improve their physical condition and get used to the intensity of international competition. I highly appreciate the focus and effort of the whole team throughout the preparation process, especially with the Super Cup match approaching."
Coach Polking: CAHN Club will win the National Super Cup.
Making his debut as head coach in the National Super Cup match, CAHN FC's coach Alexandre Polking is confident his team will win the title.
"I'm sure this will be a spectacular match for the fans. I hope that after the final whistle, we will lift the championship trophy," coach Polking shared.
In his first full season with CAHN FC, Coach Polking led his team to victory in the 2024-2025 National Cup, a bronze medal in the V-League, and a silver medal in the ASEAN Club Championship. The German strategist's team had an impressive run-up, remaining undefeated in 8 of their last 9 matches to achieve their goals. Considering CAHN FC had to play 39 matches across 3 competitions, this is an acceptable achievement.

This season, CAHN Club will participate in the V-League, the National Cup, the ASEAN Club Championship, and the AFC Champions League 2. With potentially 40-45 matches to play, the reigning National Cup champions are eager to win the National Super Cup to create a springboard for their next goal.
Goalkeeper Nguyen Filip believes that CAHN FC must overcome the disappointment of their 1-3 defeat in the 2023 Super Cup match against Thanh Hoa FC in order to better prepare for the clash at Thien Truong Stadium against Nam Dinh FC.
"The 2023 Super Cup was an unforgettable experience for me and the whole team. To avoid repeating that undesirable result, we have prepared more thoroughly for the upcoming match, from our mentality to our technical skills. The whole team is very determined to win," Nguyen Filip affirmed.
