According to Thanh Nien Newspaper's investigation, coach Van Sy Son has reached an agreement with SLNA. Unless something changes, the strategist will officially make his debut on October 18th, when SLNA faces Hanoi Police FC.
Previously, after the 2-3 defeat against Ho Chi Minh City Police FC in Round 5 of the V-League, coach Phan Nhu Thuat resigned. Coach Nguyen Huy Hoang took over temporarily, leading SLNA to a 1-1 draw with HAGL at Pleiku Stadium in Round 6 of the V-League.

Who is coach Van Sy Son?
Coach Van Sy Son is 53 years old and hails from Nghe An province . He is a descendant of former football legend Van Sy Chi and a close friend of former stars of SLNA in particular and Vietnamese football in general, such as Van Si Ngoc, Van Sy Hung, Van Sy Thuy, and Van Sy Linh.
As a player, Van Sy Son dedicated almost his entire career to SLNA. He captained the club from 2004 before moving to Hanoi T&T in 2007. He won two V-League championships, one National Cup, and three National Super Cups.
Transitioning to coaching, he served as assistant coach at Hanoi FC from 2008 to 2020. In August 2022, Coach Van Sy Son was appointed to lead Quang Nam FC. He helped the team gain promotion to the V-League in the 2023-2024 season.
With his extensive experience, coach Van Sy Son is expected to help SLNA overcome this difficult period. Currently, the team from Nghe An only has 5 points and is ranked 10th in the V-League standings this season.
