Vietnamese passport ranked 84th in the world

(GLO)- According to the recently announced 2025 third quarter rankings of Henley Passport Index, Vietnam's passport has increased 7 places, ranking 84th in the world.

Compared to the beginning of the year, Vietnam's passport has risen from 91st to 84th globally. This is a welcome sign - the most impressive improvement since this index was first tracked more than 20 years ago.

Along with that, Vietnamese citizens can now enter without a visa or just need to apply for an e-visa, border visa or ETA (electronic travel permit) in 51/227 countries and territories such as ASEAN countries, Chile, Iran, Kenya, Madagascar, Maldives,...

According to the General Statistics Office, in the first six months of 2025, the number of Vietnamese people leaving the country reached more than 4 million, an increase of 53.9% over the same period in 2024.

According to this second quarter report, it is noteworthy that the US - the most powerful country in the world - has seen its passport ranking drop significantly, down to 10th place, on par with Iceland and Lithuania.

Singapore continues to dominate the rankings with the number of countries and territories that offer visa-free or e-visa access reaching 193.

The Henley Index is one of the few reputable indices in the world that tracks the travel freedom of global passports, using exclusive data from the International Air Transport Association (IATA), which is typically published twice a year at the beginning of the first and third quarters and updated regularly.
