Quang Nam province has had many specific policies such as: Migrating people from areas at risk of landslides to new settlements, helping crops and livestock, people have accessed loans from the Social Policy Bank to boldly invest in economic models to help poor and near-poor households escape poverty and develop sustainably.
Mr. Le Hung Lam - Director of the Quang Nam Provincial Social Policy Bank Branch said that implementing Decree No. 28/2022 on preferential credit policies to implement the National Target Program 1719, ethnic minorities have been able to borrow more and more capital. Along with that, with the determination to escape poverty and become well-off, people have invested in economic models that bring efficiency and improve the quality of life.
In village 5, Phuoc Duc commune (Phuoc Son district), the couple Trieu Thi Thao (49 years old), Nung ethnic group, said that at first, when they started their business in this area, it was mainly forests and mountains, with a sparse population, leading to many economic difficulties for the family. In 2010, the government encouraged Thao's family to borrow 15 million VND from the district's Social Policy Bank to invest in raising breeding sows and pigs. In 2019, the couple borrowed an additional 30 million VND to invest in a poultry farm to develop a flock of more than 100 hens for hatching, producing an average of 1,200 - 1,500 chicks per month, raising more than 600 ducklings, developing a herd of hybrid wild boars, planting more than 3 hectares of acacia trees... helping them earn 14 - 15 million VND per month.
“Thanks to the State's support policies under the National Target Program 1719, not only has local infrastructure been invested in and built to ensure convenience for travel and transportation of goods, but people have also been guided and participated in training courses on science and technology in cultivation and animal husbandry, so we are confident in doing business to escape poverty and become well-off,” said Ms. Thao.
Mr. Vu Dinh Cuoi - Chairman of the Farmers' Association of Phuoc Son district said that thanks to the investment support resources of the State in recent years, it has helped local people stabilize their lives and help each other to escape poverty sustainably. Therefore, in Phuoc Son district, according to statistics, after 5 years of implementing the resolution of the 3rd Congress of Ethnic Minorities of the district, thousands of households have achieved the title of good farmers and businessmen at all levels. Such as Mr. Nguyen Dang Quyet's household in village 2 (Phuoc Nang commune, Phuoc Son district), with a model of raising ducks for breeding; A Xia's household in Lao Du village (Phuoc Xuan commune) grows acacia gardens combined with raising buffaloes for meat; Mr. Ho Van Truong's household in village 1 (Phuoc Chanh commune) invests in expanding the model of growing crops combined with raising livestock... for a stable income of hundreds of millions of VND each year.
Through effective livelihood models, especially after the implementation of the campaign "Changing the thinking and working methods of ethnic minorities to gradually escape poverty sustainably" according to Directive No. 27 of Phuoc Son District Party Committee, in addition to investment models for production development, in recent times, many local households, especially ethnic minority households, have invested in developing agricultural services for buying and selling agricultural products, growing seedlings, processing dried bananas, cinnamon, smoked black pork and developing small-scale handicrafts to help solve local labor problems, bringing a stable source of income for mountainous communities...
“To change the way of thinking and working of ethnic minorities, we cooperate with banks to increase loan support, helping people have opportunities and conditions to develop the economy and stabilize their lives. Every year, we coordinate to organize vocational training classes; train and guide people on how to work and take care of crops and livestock effectively,” said Mr. Vu Dinh Cuoi.
