Three-color lotus flowers in Sa Dec flower village attract visitors

Mr. Huynh Thanh Tuan, residing in Tan My hamlet, Sa Dec ward, Dong Thap province, has successfully grown a 3-color lotus (Thai Tulip) plant, which is popular with customers near and far.

Mr. Huynh Thanh Tuan - owner of Tuan Duy ornamental flower establishment (Sa Dec ward) - said that this is the second year the lotus nursery has sold a large quantity to the market, and is one of the few successful nurseries in Sa Dec flower village, because this is a new flower variety imported from Thailand.

According to Mr. Tuan, the flower's original name is Thai Tulip, but when it was successfully cultivated, it was named lotus turmeric, and when it blooms, it looks similar to the Vietnamese lotus. The lotus turmeric takes about 2.5 - 3 months from the time it is planted to when it flowers and is sold, the flowering period lasts about 1 month, and includes 3 colors: white, purple, and pink.

"My facility, with an area of ​​about 8,000 ^{square meters,} has planted more than 30,000 flower baskets of various types for Tet such as lotus, new-color gerbera daisies, and royal poinciana. Of these, lotus accounts for the largest quantity, about 20,000 baskets, and is currently blooming continuously for sale from now until Tet.

The selling price of lotus is 50,000 VND/basket, the delivery area is from the provinces and cities in the Central region and further south, mainly through traders and wholesalers to flower and ornamental shops in Sa Dec," said Mr. Tuan.

According to statistics of Sa Dec Ward People's Committee, the 2026 Tet flower crop is about 100 hectares of flowers such as: Raspberry chrysanthemum, tiger chrysanthemum, gerbera daisy, sunflower, lotus, rose, marble bougainvillea, jasmine, snow mountain phi hong...

The total quantity is more than 246,000 Tet flower baskets of all kinds, farmers have ordered 140,000 flower baskets to serve the Festival.
