Prof. Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Ha, Deputy Director of the Department of Quality Management ( Ministry of Education and Training ) said that the Ministry of Education and Training is currently promoting the teaching of AI in the general education program with the aim of bringing the progress and advantages of AI not only in the modern training environment, but also in the future to serve the development of the country.

"This is the first Artificial Intelligence Olympiad, candidates with good results will be given priority in future admissions and recruitment," said Prof. Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Ha.

The first National Artificial Intelligence Olympiad Finals for Students in 2025 gathered 98 excellent candidates from 28 high schools in 17 provinces/cities, 4 specialized high schools belonging to universities across the country.

Candidates take the exam in a 6-hour individual practice format, with two exams focusing on computer vision and natural language processing (NLP) - two key areas in Artificial Intelligence.

During the first 5 hours, candidates work on a public dataset. During the last hour, candidates can only use a private dataset provided by the board of examiners. This is a decisive stage, requiring candidates not only to have an optimal algorithm but also to clearly understand the requirements of the problem and the ability to generalize the model.

“Especially, when we saw the composition, we were very moved because in addition to big cities, there were also children from remote areas, including 7th graders participating in the contest,” said Mr. Phong.

Highly appreciating the competition and congratulating the top prize winners, Mr. Phong hopes that they will have an even greater mission of bringing the Vietnamese flag to international competitions in the future. He hopes that teachers and students will win the highest prize in this international competition.
