(CLO) The 17th Vietnam Journalists Association Table Tennis Championship - Sao Vang Cup 2024 will officially open at Cau Giay Stadium, 35 Tran Quy Kien, Hanoi.
Taking place from December 1 to 3, 2024, the 17th Vietnam Journalists Association Table Tennis Championship - Sao Vang Cup 2024 is an annual event organized by the Vietnam Journalists Association in coordination with the Hanoi People's Committee, in response to the campaign "All people exercise following the example of great Uncle Ho", while promoting the sports training movement among journalists nationwide.
The tournament attracted the participation of many reporters, journalists, and members of the Vietnam Journalists Association from press agencies and associations at all levels across the country, with 14 competition events. This is a useful exchange playground, helping to strengthen the spirit of solidarity and connection between press agencies and the community.

The tournament has nearly 200 athletes, up to 40 delegations nationwide, in which the delegation with the most athletes is the Vietnam Television Journalists Association (25 athletes). The delegations participating in the tournament for the first time: Vietnam Business & Border Trade Magazine, Rural Mechanics Magazine, Photography & Life Magazine, Ethnic Studies Magazine. The delegation from the farthest away is the Ho Chi Minh City Veterans Newspaper. The oldest athlete was born in 1948, the youngest was born in 2003. The number of male athletes is 153, the number of female athletes is 36.
The Organizing Committee stipulates that table tennis players at the national level of masters and level I from 2019 and earlier are only allowed to participate in team competitions; table tennis players at the national level of masters and level I from 2019 and later are not allowed to participate in competitions.
Competition format: Teams compete in Swaythling format with 5 single matches (A- X, BY, CZ, AY, BX); Doubles, singles: 5-game matches with 3 wins. Depending on the number of athletes participating in each event, the Organizing Committee will decide whether to compete in a knockout or round-robin format. The Organizing Committee will award cups, flags, medals, and bonuses to the teams, pairs, and individuals who win First, Second, and Third Prizes in each event.
This year, the Organizing Committee has built a separate fanpage to update information related to the organization of the Tournament. On the fanpage, the Organizing Committee's implementation activities such as: Press conference; Draw for group division; or summary information about the regulations; awards, athletes and groups... are fully and regularly updated with diverse forms of expression to help grasp information quickly, easily and vividly.
Sharing at the recently held Award Announcement Ceremony, journalist Nguyen Duc Loi, Permanent Vice President of the Vietnam Journalists Association, Head of the Organizing Committee of the Award said: “The Vietnam Journalists Association Table Tennis Championship is the largest sports playground for the press. I hope that athletes will participate in the tournament with a noble sportsmanship spirit, absolutely comply with the rules and regulations, especially the press agencies in sending athletes to participate in the tournament”.

The opening and closing ceremonies and some exciting matches will be broadcast live on Hanoi Radio and Television (https://hanoionline.vn) and other digital platforms of the Station. In addition, the Organizing Committee's Facebook Fanpage called "Vietnam Journalists Association Table Tennis Championship" will also regularly update information and images about the tournament.
