Today (December 1) 17th Vietnam Journalists Association Table Tennis Championship

(CLO) The 17th Vietnam Journalists Association Table Tennis Championship - Golden Star Cup 2024 will officially open at Cau Giay Gymnasium, 35 Tran Quy Kien Street, Hanoi.

Taking place from December 1st to 3rd, 2024, the 17th Vietnam Journalists Association Table Tennis Championship - Golden Star Cup 2024 is an annual event organized by the Vietnam Journalists Association in coordination with the Hanoi People's Committee, aiming to respond to the campaign "All citizens practice physical training following the example of the great President Ho Chi Minh," and to promote the sports training movement among journalists nationwide.

The tournament attracted numerous reporters, journalists, and members of the Vietnam Journalists Association from media agencies and associations at all levels across the country, with 14 competition categories. This is a valuable platform for exchange, helping to strengthen solidarity and cohesion among media agencies and the community.

The competition attracted nearly 200 athletes from 40 delegations nationwide, with the largest delegation being the Vietnam Television Journalists' Association (25 athletes). First-time participants included the Vietnam Business & Border Trade Magazine, the Rural Machinery Magazine, the Photography & Life Magazine, and the Ethnic Studies Magazine. The furthest-traveling delegation was the Ho Chi Minh City Veterans Newspaper. The oldest athlete was born in 1948, and the youngest in 2003. There were 153 male athletes and 36 female athletes.

The Organizing Committee stipulates that table tennis players with the rank of Master or National Level I from 2019 and earlier are only allowed to participate in the team competition; table tennis players with the rank of Master or National Level I from 2019 onwards are not allowed to participate in the competition.

Competition format: Team competition follows the Swaythling format with 5 singles matches (A-X, BY, CZ, AY, BX); Doubles and singles: Best of 5 sets. Depending on the number of participants in each event, the Organizing Committee will decide whether to use a knockout or round-robin format. The Organizing Committee will award trophies, flags, medals, and prize money to the teams, doubles, and individuals winning first, second, and third place in each competition.

This year, the Organizing Committee has created a dedicated fanpage to update information related to the tournament's organization. On the fanpage, activities such as press conferences, group draws, summaries of regulations, prizes, athletes, and tournament brackets are updated regularly and comprehensively in various formats, making it easy, quick, and engaging to access the information.

Speaking at the recently held announcement ceremony for the new tournament, journalist Nguyen Duc Loi, Permanent Vice President of the Vietnam Journalists Association and Head of the Organizing Committee, said: “The Vietnam Journalists Association Table Tennis Championship is the largest sporting event for journalists. I hope that the athletes participating in the tournament will do so with a spirit of fair play, strictly adhering to the regulations and rules, especially the media agencies in sending athletes to participate in the tournament.”

With thorough, meticulous, and professional preparation, the 17th Vietnam Journalists Association Table Tennis Championship - Golden Star Cup 2024 promises to deliver top-level matches, leaving many unforgettable emotions and special impressions for participating athletes and fans.

The opening and closing ceremonies and some exciting matches will be broadcast live on Hanoi Radio and Television (https://hanoionline.vn) and other digital platforms of the station. In addition, the Organizing Committee's Facebook Fanpage, titled "Vietnam Journalists Association Table Tennis Championship," will regularly update information and images about the tournament.
