Today the National Assembly elected the President and approved the dismissal of the Minister of Public Security.

According to the personnel work program at the 7th Session, late yesterday afternoon, May 21, the National Assembly Standing Committee submitted to the National Assembly a list of nominees for the National Assembly to elect the President; the Prime Minister submitted a proposal to the National Assembly to approve the dismissal of General To Lam from the position of Minister of Public Security .

This morning, May 22, after the National Assembly Standing Committee reported on the explanation and acceptance of opinions of National Assembly deputies discussing in the Delegation about the nomination list, the National Assembly proceeded to elect the President by secret ballot.

The vote counting results will be announced before the National Assembly discusses and votes to pass the Resolution to electthe President .

The President takes the oath of office and delivers his inaugural speech after being elected to office by the National Assembly.

7th Session, 15th National Assembly

Immediately afterwards, the President submitted to the National Assembly for approval the members of the National Defense and Security Council. The National Assembly approved the personnel by secret ballot.

The vote counting results were announced before the National Assembly passed a resolution approving the members of the National Defense and Security Council.

Also this morning, the Prime Minister reported to the National Assembly on the explanation and acceptance of opinions of National Assembly deputies discussing at the Delegation on the proposal to approve the dismissal of the Minister of Public Security (if any).

The National Assembly approved the dismissal of the Minister of Public Security by secret ballot. The vote counting results were also announced at this working session, before the National Assembly discussed and voted to pass the Resolution approving the dismissal of the Minister of Public Security.

In addition to deciding on personnel matters, the National Assembly also considered many other important issues. Accordingly, the National Assembly listened to the Government's report as well as the National Assembly's agency's verification report on the results of implementing national gender equality goals in 2023.

The National Assembly listened to presentations and reports on adjusting the investment policy of the National Target Program on Socio-Economic Development of Ethnic Minority and Mountainous Areas for the 2021-2030 period; and the investment policy of the North-South Expressway Construction Investment Project in the West, Gia Nghia (Dak Nong) - Chon Thanh (Binh Phuoc) section.

National Assembly deputies also discussed in the hall a number of controversial contents of the draft Law on Road Traffic Order and Safety.
