The program was organized by the People's Committee of Vung Tau ward in coordination with various units, organizations, associations, forces of the Ho Chi Minh City Command, and many environmental protection clubs and groups.
From 6 a.m. onwards, dense, black ocean debris washes ashore in the Bai Dau area, stretching for many kilometers. This debris, mainly consisting of decomposed water hyacinth, dry wood, mangrove branches, plastic bags, and styrofoam containers, causes serious pollution, affecting urban aesthetics and tourism .
Over 1,000 people, including officials, workers, armed forces personnel, and youth union members, worked together to clean up and transport garbage ashore. After more than four hours of operation, approximately 60 tons of garbage were collected and transported by specialized vehicles of Vung Tau Urban Environmental Services and Construction Joint Stock Company (VESCO) to the Toc Tien centralized waste treatment facility.

Speaking with a reporter from SGGP newspaper, Mr. Nguyen Tan Ban, Secretary of the Party Committee of Vung Tau ward, said: The situation of ocean debris drifting into Vung Tau's sea is seriously affecting the environment, urban aesthetics, and especially tourism activities in the area. Therefore, every week the ward mobilizes forces and vehicles to participate in collecting the debris, especially intensifying efforts during peak summer periods.
According to Mr. Nguyen Xuan Hau, Deputy General Director of VESCO, since May 25th, ocean debris has been continuously flooding Vung Tau's beaches with increasing intensity, especially since the beginning of July. The main cause stems from the impact of climate change, with currents and monsoon winds carrying debris from major river systems such as the Saigon, Dong Nai , Tien, Lap, and Ray rivers into the sea. In addition, debris also arises from fishing boat anchoring, water transport, and the habit of directly dumping waste into the sea.
"Previously, garbage would only appear for 5-7 days, but in the last three years, it has been continuously overflowing onto the shore for 4-5 months, without any fixed cycle, and in increasingly large quantities," Mr. Hau said.

At the launch event, the leaders of Vung Tau ward called on organizations, clubs, and volunteer groups to continue to cooperate and contribute to cleaning up the beach, spreading awareness of environmental protection to the community.
"In the long term, we will propose that the leaders of Ho Chi Minh City work with localities bordering Vung Tau to implement solutions to prevent waste from reaching its source, minimizing the amount of waste drifting ashore," emphasized Nguyen Tan Ban, Secretary of the Vung Tau Ward Party Committee.
