The conference brought together 160 delegates, including many professors and scientists from France, Japan, South Korea, the United States, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and other countries. Notably, Professor Deng Wen Ling, Science and Technology Counselor of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Vietnam, was present.

The discussions focused on fundamental research and applications of plant biotechnology; the role of microorganisms in food security, healthcare, and sustainable development; and the application of OMICS, big data, and artificial intelligence (AI) in medicine, food safety, and the environment.

According to Dr. Tran Thanh Son (ICISE), the conference is an initiative of Professor Tran Thanh Van – President of the Vietnam Meeting of Scientists Association – and Professor Patrick Boiron, launched in 2017 with the goal of building a network of young Vietnamese biologists. After 8 years, the series of conferences at ICISE has attracted nearly 1,000 international scientists; in 2022 alone, there were 400 delegates from 17 countries and territories participating.

Speaking at the conference, Ms. Vo Cao Thi Mong Hoai, Deputy Director of the Department of Science and Technology of Gia Lai province, affirmed that the event not only opens opportunities for research and training cooperation but also promotes the application of biotechnology in medicine, agriculture , biodiversity conservation, and sustainable development. She also expressed her hope to receive support from scientists to develop a key biotechnology center project for Gia Lai province, contributing to the socio-economic development of the locality.

"The valuable opinions of the scientists will help Gia Lai province clearly define the tasks that need to be done and the contents that need to be focused on in applying biotechnology to production and life, contributing to the socio-economic development of the province," said the Deputy Director of the Department of Science and Technology of Gia Lai province.

On this occasion, Ms. Hoai also hopes to receive connections from Professor Deng Wen Ling to promote cooperation in science, higher education, and other socio-economic fields between Taiwan and Gia Lai.
