More than 354 billion VND to preserve unique ancient stone structures in Vietnam

(Dan Tri) - Thanh Hoa province has approved a project with an investment of 354 billion VND to preserve the World Heritage site of Ho Dynasty Citadel.

Recently, the People's Committee of Thanh Hoa province issued a decision approving the project of Preservation, renovation, restoration and embellishment of a number of construction items in the Inner Citadel area of ​​the World Cultural Heritage of the Ho Dynasty Citadel (phase 1 of Project Group No. 3), with a total investment of more than 354 billion VND.

The decision, signed by Mr. Dau Thanh Tung, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, aims to firmly preserve and promote the outstanding global value of the World Cultural Heritage of Ho Dynasty Citadel, serving the province's tourism and socio- economic development, making the Heritage a key national and regional tourist attraction.

The project will be implemented in the period 2025-2028. Specifically, the period 2025-2027 will focus on renovating the Hoang Nguyen Palace Archaeological Exhibition Area; repairing and restoring the Southern Moat (including the Citadel Guard); repairing and restoring the Royal Road; repairing and waterproofing the South Gate; building internal traffic roads, landscape trees, lighting and technical infrastructure.

Phase 2 (2027-2028) continues to restore and embellish Dong Thai Mieu, Tay Thai Mieu and Nam Thanh bridge. Funding for the project comes from the central and provincial budgets.

The Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism is assigned as the investor, responsible for organizing the implementation of the project in accordance with legal regulations on investment in construction works and cultural heritage, ensuring quality and progress.

Tay Do Commune People's Committee will carry out site clearance and resettlement within its management scope.

The Ho Dynasty Citadel is a unique ancient stone structure in Vietnam. The Ho Dynasty Citadel, also known as the Tay Do Citadel, the Tay Giai Citadel, the An Ton Citadel, located in Tay Do commune, Thanh Hoa province, was built by Ho Quy Ly in the late 14th century and early 15th century. It was the capital of Dai Viet - Tran dynasty (1389-1400) and the capital of Dai Ngu - Ho dynasty (1400-1407).

In June 2011, Ho Dynasty Citadel was officially recognized by UNESCO as a World Cultural Heritage at the 35th session held in Paris (France).
