According to experts, in Vietnam, the rate of people with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) currently accounts for 4.2% of the adult population, most of whom have not been diagnosed and properly treated, affecting the quality of life of patients and being one of the leading causes of death.
In an effort to accompany respiratory patients, Pharmacity has strategically cooperated with GSK - a Global Biopharmaceutical Company from the UK - to improve pharmacists' professional knowledge and introduce new solutions in the treatment of respiratory diseases.
The seminar "Comprehensive approach to common respiratory diseases at pharmacies" was organized by Pharmacity - the leading pharmacy system in Vietnam - in collaboration with GSK in Ho Chi Minh City to share practical knowledge about common respiratory infections to help pharmacists understand correctly and apply them in daily consultation.
The workshop focused on two main groups of content: diagnosis and treatment consultation for common respiratory diseases (such as bronchial asthma, COPD, acute otitis media, community-acquired pneumonia) and safe use of antibiotics.

More than 130 pharmacy pharmacists - who act as a "first filter" to help patients access effective and principled treatment regimens, improving treatment effectiveness - attended the workshop.
“With the unique climate, environment and increasing rate of people suffering from respiratory diseases, Vietnamese people need access to modern, safe and effective treatment solutions. Consulting on the proper use of drugs and monitoring treatment compliance as well as raising public awareness about respiratory diseases is Pharmacity’s mission. That is why Pharmacity and GSK will always cooperate closely in healthcare strategies based on expertise,” said Deepanshu Madan, CEO of Pharmacity, in his opening speech at the conference.
Mr. Deepanshu Madan also emphasized: “As a large pharmacy system in Vietnam, we clearly understand the real needs of people - that is, peace of mind when using medicine, transparency in consultation, and quality guaranteed from the manufacturer to the pharmacy. With GSK, we not only have quality medicine, but also have a sustainable companion towards the common goal of taking care of Vietnamese people's health.”
Pharmacity continues to be a chain of pharmacies distributing genuine GSK products in the treatment of common respiratory diseases in children, such as acute otitis media and community-acquired pneumonia.
This innovative product is not only effective in eliminating difficult-to-treat bacteria due to drug resistance, but also helps reduce the number of times a day you need to take medication, making treatment gentler and easier for both parents and children.
With the support of a reputable international pharmaceutical partner, Pharmacity is equipping its team of pharmacists with not only the latest professional knowledge, but also the ability to screen symptoms and advise on safe drug use. Thanks to that, patients can receive timely and accurate support, even when they cannot go to the hospital.

With more than 1,000 stores nationwide, Pharmacity is one of the few pharmacy systems with a long-term vision in training and continuously improving the qualifications of pharmacists.
Partnering with GSK also enables pharmacists to access innovative medical resources and best practice knowledge, enabling them to become trusted health advisors.
The combination between Pharmacity and GSK is not only strategic, but also a long-term commitment to public health: a commitment to continuous training, improving the capacity of the pharmacist team and helping people have early access to international standard treatment methods, right at the pharmacy near their home.
In the context of the healthcare industry shifting towards personalization and community-based care, this cooperation model is expected to become a pioneering model in Vietnam./.
