Speaking at the workshop, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Hoa, Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Digital Transformation Center (HCMC–DXCenter) said: "With 97.5% of businesses in the area being micro, small and medium enterprises, they do not have enough resources. These businesses are concerned about specific benefits and do not want to make large investments without visualizing the effectiveness."

The fear does not only come from businesses. A survey by AVPN of 3,000 people showed that 57% do not know how to self-study AI. 16% fear that AI will replace their jobs. On the user side, Ms. Lien Nguyen, Head of Government Relations and Public Policy, Google Vietnam, said that the first obstacle is awareness. Many people still think that AI applications are far-fetched and complicated.

According to Ms. Lien Nguyen, Head of Government Relations and Public Policy, Google Vietnam, the first obstacle is user awareness. Many people still think that AI applications are far-fetched and complicated. However, in reality, AI has been used in many fields such as medical treatment, disaster forecasting, and teaching support.

Ms. Lien gave an example, Gemini - an AI assistant released by Google, helped a 77-year-old friend in Australia plan her trip and find suitable travel schedules easily.

Speaking more about the benefits of applying AI in work, Mr. Nguyen Tien Huy, CEO of Pencil Group - a unit that does brand positioning for many big brands, said that thanks to AI, data collection time is only 1/10 compared to before. When saving time, businesses use that time to analyze in-depth reports after collecting data, increasing the quality of work, increasing competitive advantage in the market.

At the event, Mr. Do Tran Binh Minh - General Director of AI Education - said that the journey to bring AI closer to Vietnamese workers and businesses requires strong cooperation from all sectors of society.

To address these barriers, several concrete initiatives have been implemented. HCMC-DXCenter has collaborated with the Ho Chi Minh City Fatherland Front to implement the “Digital Literacy for All” movement. The unit also supports the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union to popularize AI, aiming to train 2 million young people.

Also at the event, AI Education and the Asia-Pacific AI Opportunity Project launched a new initiative. The goal is to train 72,000 workers, including 15,000 medical staff, with practical, Vietnamese-language training programs.
