With the strong message "Central Vietnam: One destination, countless experiences," representatives of the tourism industry of Da Nang and Hue cities coordinated with Malaysia to organize a special event in the capital Kuala Lumpur on August 26, affirming the great potential in attracting Malaysian tourists, especially Muslim tourists.

Ms. Tran Thi Hoai Tram, Director of the Hue City Department of Tourism, said that Malaysia is currently one of the key tourism markets in the Central region. Figures show that in 2024, Hue and Da Nang welcomed nearly 230,000 Malaysian visitors, and in the first 6 months of 2025 alone, this number increased to 140,000.

Ms. Hoai Tram said that to achieve this success, localities have proactively built Muslim-friendly services. Many restaurants have achieved Halal certification and accommodation facilities have also upgraded their services to bring maximum comfort to visitors.

She shared that the Central region is a perfect combination of world cultural heritages, vibrant festivals and diverse experiences, and expressed her desire to make Hue and Da Nang an ideal duo for Malaysian tourists.

Mr. Phua Tai Neng, Secretary General of the Malaysian Association of Travel and Tour Agents (MATTA), also expressed optimism about the prospects of tourism products in the Central region attracting Malaysian tourists.

Sharing from personal experience, he affirmed that Central Vietnam is truly a wonderful destination, converging from world heritages, beautiful beaches, unique cuisine to classy golf tourism.

He appreciated Vietnam's efforts in providing Muslim-friendly services and encouraged further promotion.

Mr. Phua Tai Neng hopes that this event will promote closer cooperation, create new business opportunities for travel agents, and bring long-term benefits to both sides.

Sharing this view, Mr. Le Phu Cuong, Commercial Counselor of the Vietnamese Embassy in Malaysia, emphasized the advantages of Central Vietnam including its close geographical location, convenient flights and cultural similarities.

To further develop this market, he proposed three key areas of cooperation, including enhancing air connectivity, opening more flights to facilitate tourists' travel; developing specialized tourism products, especially Halal cuisine, to meet the specific needs of Muslim tourists; strengthening business links, creating conditions for tourism partners of the two countries to meet and cooperate.

The event opened up many new cooperation opportunities through business-to-business (B2B) networking activities, with the participation of 20 tourism businesses from Hue and Da Nang and more than 100 Malaysian partners.

This tourism promotion program is expected to bring many potential agreements, attracting more Malaysian tourists to explore the beauty of Central Vietnam in the near future./.
