In a match where they needed to win against Iraq to have any hope of advancing, Indonesia pushed forward aggressively from the opening minutes. They even outplayed Iraq, controlling possession for 56% of the time and launching 9 shots, but most were inaccurate.

In the 76th minute, Iraq took a 1-0 lead thanks to Zidane Iqbal's shot from just outside the 16.5-meter line, beating Indonesian goalkeeper Maarten Paes. With nothing left to lose, Indonesia threw everything forward in attack but were unable to break through Iraq's "steel wall".

In injury time, Iraq were reduced to 10 men after Tahseen received his second yellow card and was sent off, but there was too little time left for Indonesia to turn the tide. With a final score of 0-1, Indonesia were officially eliminated from the 4th round of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers in the Asian region.

Iraq and Saudi Arabia, both with 3 points, will face each other in the final match to compete for a direct ticket to the 2026 World Cup.
