Intel, the American technology giant, is planning to move its assembly, packaging, and testing operations from its Costa Rican plant to potential markets such as Vietnam. This information was revealed during a meeting between Ho Chi Minh City leaders and Intel.
This is a step in the process of transforming the global strategy of the corporation, making adjustments to optimize production activities. Therefore, the representative of Intel Vietnam expressed the hope that Ho Chi Minh City would support Intel Vietnam in terms of operating licenses for machinery and equipment as well as ensuring air transport security for shipments imported from other countries to Vietnam.
Mr. Kenneth Tse, General Director of Intel Vietnam (IPV), said that up to now, Intel Vietnam has become Intel's largest assembly and testing facility, accounting for more than 50% of Intel's output, creating more than 6,000 jobs.
After nearly 20 years of presence in Vietnam, Intel has exported more than 4 billion products, contributing over $100 billion to Vietnam's exports.
Currently, Intel Vietnam is continuing to apply the group's new technology techniques in its products, including the most advanced 18A chip product line.
Intel is currently manufacturing the leading semiconductor chip technology. Deploying this technology in Vietnam helps domestic workers access the highest technology standards, improving skills and human resource quality.
