iPhone 16 will be much more powerful than its predecessor

According to MacRumros , analyst Jeff Pu said in his latest report that the iPhone 16 and 16 Plus models will be equipped with the A18 chip. However, this does not mean that it is the chip found on the Pro models, which are said to come with the more powerful A18 Pro chip. This is a new approach by Apple to ensure that the Pro models are provided with more powerful chips, while also making the basic model users not feel clearly differentiated like what happened with the previous iPhone 14 and 15 series.

Basic iPhone 16 models could attract customers thanks to new improvements

But that's not the only improvement coming to the base iPhone 16 models, as they're expected to get 8GB of RAM instead of the 6GB currently found on the iPhone 15 and 15 Plus. The RAM bump seems to be Apple's way of preparing for AI in its future smartphones. If so, AI won't be a priority reserved for the Pro models.

It’s no surprise that Apple will continue to differentiate its two product lines by applying certain features to the more expensive models. As a result, the two base models will support Wi-Fi 6E, which operates in the 6 GHz band, allowing for faster wireless speeds and reduced signal interference with compatible routers.

Meanwhile, the iPhone 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max could offer Wi-Fi 7. The new standard was officially certified earlier this year, paving the way for an increasing number of Wi-Fi 7-enabled devices to appear on the market.
