
According to the report, the current state of damage to the Song Lo bridge piers is as follows: at pier T3, bored pile No. 2 continues to be damaged, with severe cross-section reduction, concrete loss, and exposed rusted steel reinforcement. At pier T5, the erosion remains at a serious level (exceeding the calculated erosion depth).
The Road Engineering Center has inspected the technical condition of all abutment and bridge piers by measuring vibrations and checking the erosion depth of pier T5 after storm No. 11. To evaluate the dynamic displacement of the abutments and bridge piers, the unit used a 2-axle truck with a total load of 13 tons to measure the vibrations and displacements of many abutments and bridge piers and analyzed the vibration graph. The results showed that the condition of the abutments and piers was guaranteed with this test load. In addition, the report also stated that the riverbed at pier T5 had eroded to the limestone layer and had not eroded further since the survey was conducted last year.
From the results of the preliminary inspection and assessment, the Road Engineering Center recommends and proposes that the current traffic flow across the bridge is to allow pedestrians, bicycles, motorbikes, motorcycles and cars with 7 seats or less to travel across the bridge.
At the same time, the Road Engineering Center also requested the province to divert traffic from the commune, set up signs to limit the speed to 20 km/h and prohibit trucks, passenger vehicles, and cars with more than 7 seats from crossing the bridge; requested the waterway management unit to control and ensure traffic safety, prevent collisions on the waterway, especially to prevent boats from colliding with the bridge foundation system.
Faced with the above situation, Mr. Tran Duy Dong - Chairman of Phu Tho Provincial People's Committee inspected the situation, directed the handling of the situation and invited scientists to conduct a safety inspection to find the next solution.
Song Lo Bridge is designed and built with a lifespan of 100 years. The construction contractor is the Urban and Industrial Park Development Investment Joint Stock Company (headquartered in Hanoi ) and the supervising consultant is a joint venture of the Large Bridge and Tunnel Design Consulting Joint Stock Company and the Southern Engineering and Consulting Joint Stock Company.
According to the People's Committee of Doan Hung Commune, Phu Tho, the deterioration of Song Lo Bridge leading to the closure of the bridge has affected thousands of households in the area. This is also a bridge located on a vital traffic route, Doan Hung Bridge ensures inter-provincial traffic between the old Ha Giang - Tuyen Quang with the old Phu Tho and Vinh Phuc provinces along National Highway 2.
