From cinema to reality

The exhibition "Kowloon Walled City Through the Lens of Cinema" officially opened at the end of May and will run for three years.

The event marked a major turning point in recreating Hong Kong's urban historical heritage, reproducing Kowloon Walled City with scaled-down sets.

Accordingly, visitors will have the opportunity to step back into the narrow alleys of the 1980s, immersing themselves in the bustling atmosphere of tailor shops, pharmacies, barbershops, and fish ball factories. These are all images that evoke memories of the golden age of this unique residential area.

Reportedly, the exhibition's concept was inspired by the resounding success of the 2024 film *Kowloon Walled City: Siege *. With its nostalgic appeal and unique setting, the exhibition project brings the image of the fortified city back to its original location: Kowloon Walled City Park.

The exhibition is open to the public free of charge, from 9 am to 7 pm during the period from May to August, and from 9 am to 6 pm from September onwards.

Experience the unique culinary history and culture.

Besides exploring the film set, visitors can enjoy many cultural experiences in the surrounding area.

These include the Houwang Temple – a shrine dedicated to a general from the Southern Song Dynasty, boasting ancient architecture and a sacred atmosphere, and the Cattle Depot contemporary art district, which brings together unique artists and creative activities.

Cuisine is also a noteworthy highlight in Kowloon. From cafes with a distinct Cantonese style to long-established family-run eateries, everything contributes to a vibrant tapestry of local culinary culture.

The ideal shopping destination
