On the morning of September 5, in the atmosphere of the new school year across the country, the Center organized a new school year opening ceremony for students with disabilities . There was no bustling sound of drums and trumpets, but the students had a warm ceremony, filled with love from the teachers here.

They did not sing the heroic song of the National Anthem, but sang in harmony with a very special language - the language of the heart.

A special opening ceremony, filled with warmth and love from the teachers.

In her opening speech, Ms. Nguyen Thi Nga, Director of the Center, shared: As the late Prime Minister Pham Van Dong once affirmed: "Teaching is the noblest of all noble professions". That honor is great, but the responsibility is also extremely heavy, because teachers are the ones who sow trust and foster hope for students and parents on their journey to school. Deeply aware of that, the Center's teaching staff always strives tirelessly, creating positive changes. At the end of the 2024-2025 school year, 100% of students have completed the primary school program.

With the characteristics of a special educational environment, the Center always receives close attention from all levels of government and the support of benefactors inside and outside the province. That attention is not only a source of spiritual and material encouragement but also a belief for the Center to nurture the aspiration to rise up and continue to develop in the 2025-2026 school year and the following stages.

This new school year, the Center has 33 classes with 286 students in preschool, primary, secondary and high school, with 3 types of disabilities: hearing - speaking, visual and intellectual.

In the 2025-2026 school year, the Center for Supporting the Development of Inclusive Education in Ca Mau province has 33 classes with 286 students.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Nga confided: Currently, the number of children with intellectual disabilities is increasing, while the Center's facilities and teaching staff are not enough to meet the learning needs. Therefore, the unit is forced to refuse more than 50 cases, which is truly worrying and regrettable for the children.

“Home is the first beloved cradle of every person, and school is the second sacred home. There, children not only receive knowledge but also preserve childhood memories, have their souls nurtured and are attached to life through the image of teachers,” she emotionally shared.

Ms. Vu Thi Ha Giang was present throughout the opening ceremony to interpret signs for the students.

Because they are special students, the teaching skills of the teachers here are constantly changing, with their own methods to help them develop comprehensively and fully absorb knowledge. Therefore, in addition to understanding sign language, each teacher must also build a personal education plan suitable for each student.

Not only stopping at communication language, teaching is also flexibly combined through many forms: symbols, gestures, facial expressions, images... to convey knowledge in the most vivid and easy-to-understand way. In particular, to ensure effectiveness, each class is only arranged for about 10 students, helping teachers to pay close attention and promptly support each student.

Every day at school is a happy day.

Ms. Tran Thi Nhung (from Dinh Thanh commune) said that her child is hearing impaired and has been studying at the Center for more than 7 years. Sending her child here, she feels very secure because in addition to acquiring general knowledge, her child is also trained in character, becoming polite and obedient to his parents.

Sharing the same emotion, Ms. Tran Thi An Tien (from Tan Thanh ward) expressed: “My child has a hearing and speech disability. After many years of being with the Center, he now knows how to write, calculate, and is more agile and sociable in daily life. I am truly grateful to the teachers for teaching the children with love and responsibility.”

For children with multiple disabilities, more than ever, they need teachers who are not only professionally qualified but also compassionate, virtuous and talented enough to accompany, support and help them confidently integrate and move towards a bright future.

The school drum has sounded, opening the new school year. We believe that with the spirit of overcoming difficulties and making continuous efforts, the teachers and students of the Center for Supporting the Development of Inclusive Education in Ca Mau province will continue to reap many achievements, contributing to building a friendly, humane and loving educational environment, so that "every day at school for the children is truly a happy day".
