Opening of the 47th Session of the World Heritage Committee in Paris: Vietnam aims to protect and promote heritage listing

At 10:00 a.m. (Paris time), or 3:00 p.m. (Hanoi time) on July 7, the 47th session of the World Heritage Committee officially opened at UNESCO headquarters in Paris (France). The session is scheduled to take place from July 7 to 16, with the participation of representatives of 195 member countries of the Convention for the Protection of the World Cultural and Natural Heritage.

The Vietnamese delegation attended the event with the presence of Permanent Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Minh Vu, Chairman of the Vietnam National Commission for UNESCO and Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Hoang Dao Cuong, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam National Commission for UNESCO . In addition, the delegation also included representatives from agencies under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and delegations from provinces with World Heritage sites in Vietnam.

The Quang Ninh province delegation was led by comrade Nguyen Hong Duong, Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission, with the participation of comrade Nguyen Thi Hanh, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, leaders and experts of departments, branches, and scientists .

Representatives of the Vietnamese delegation attended the plenary session of the 47th Session of the UNESCO World Heritage Committee in Paris.

Attending the meeting, the Quang Ninh delegation has the following key tasks: grasping the new policies of UNESCO on the management, protection and promotion of world heritage values; protecting the rights of the Ha Long Bay World Heritage Site; reporting and explaining the contents related to the conservation of the Ha Long Bay - Cat Ba Archipelago World Heritage Site under the province's responsibility. At the same time, the delegation will also exchange and acquire experience in managing and protecting world heritage sites from member countries, seek advice from international experts to manage and preserve heritage sustainably, and promote the tourism potential and strengths of Quang Ninh province to the countries attending the meeting.

In particular, at this session, one of the core tasks of the Vietnamese delegation in general and Quang Ninh province in particular is to protect and promote the listing of the Yen Tu - Vinh Nghiem - Con Son, Kiep Bac Monuments and Landscape Complex as a World Heritage Site.

Previously, on July 6, the Quang Ninh Provincial Delegation attended the Opening Ceremony of the space promoting the heritage of Thang Long Imperial Citadel and Co Loa Relic Site at the World Heritage Site of Provins Ancient Town, France.
