After the floodwaters receded, mountainous communes in western Nghe An province faced a severe shortage of clean water. Thousands of tons of mud and soil flooded homes; wells and water tanks were submerged and contaminated. The domestic water supply system was severely damaged, with many water tanks broken and collapsed, making clean water scarce and posing a potential risk of disease outbreaks after the flood.

In response to the urgent situation, the Nghe An Water Supply Joint Stock Company and the Health sector promptly implemented measures to provide clean water and treat water pollution for the people. Many clean water trucks, along with tankers and mobile water filters, were mobilized to supply water to people in isolated areas.
In Con Cuong commune, areas severely affected such as Lam Bong, Tan Dan, Lien Tan, Block 2, Block 9, Cau Hamlet (Block 4), Tien Thanh, and Thanh Nam have all had plans made to provide clean water. On the morning of July 26th, water was supplied to Block 2, the Southwest Nghe An Regional General Hospital, Cau Hamlet (Block 4), and Tien Thanh.
Mr. Ho Duc Manh, representative of Nghe An Water Supply Joint Stock Company, said: The company has widely publicized the water distribution points, and many people have proactively brought cans and plastic containers to collect water. Families living alone or elderly people living deep in alleys inaccessible to water tankers have been assisted by authorities in transporting water directly to their homes.

Throughout the day, water tankers continued to travel to Tam Quang and Tuong Duong communes to serve the people. In addition, many businesses and philanthropists also joined hands to support and donate thousands of bottles of mineral water to flood-affected residents, striving to ensure that no one lacks clean water during this difficult time.
Besides food shortages, clean water is currently a critical and urgent need in many flood-affected areas. Police, military forces, and local residents are actively participating in disinfecting and treating well water; at the same time, they are educating people not to carelessly use contaminated water. Ensuring clean water is not just a temporary solution but also a crucial step in stabilizing lives and preventing disease outbreaks after the natural disaster.
