Agribank will officially be honored as one of the Top 20 largest taxpayers in Vietnam by 2025.
On September 9th in Hanoi, the ceremony honoring the "Top 200 Largest Tax Contributors in Vietnam in 2025" was held solemnly. In this list, the Vietnam Agricultural and Rural Development Bank (Agribank) was named in the Top 20, affirming its outstanding financial strength and pivotal role in stabilizing the macroeconomic economy .
The list of honorees is based on the PRIVATE 100 and VNTAX 200 systems, the only two rankings that comprehensively reflect the level of contribution of businesses to the national budget. These systems are published annually by CafeF, with a review process based on big data, public and transparent, and recognized by many professional agencies. Therefore, the results are not only commendable but also a reliable measure of the financial health and social responsibility of businesses.
Notably, the top 20 enterprises contribute approximately 40% of the total national budget revenue. This figure highlights the exceptional stature of Agribank, as it, along with other large enterprises, plays a crucial role in creating the financial foundation for the State to implement policies on social welfare, healthcare, education , infrastructure, and international integration.
The Top 20 list reflects diversity, ranging from state-owned and private enterprises to foreign-invested enterprises (FDI). However, entities with large financial scale and stable contributions over many years remain the pillars – including Agribank.
The top 20 businesses contribute approximately 40% of the total national budget revenue.
According to its 2024 financial report, Agribank's total assets reached nearly 2.2 trillion VND, an increase of almost 10% compared to 2023. Capital mobilized from the economy exceeded 2 trillion VND, an increase of 7.5%. Outstanding loans reached approximately 1.72 trillion VND, an increase of 11%. Notably, over 65% of outstanding loans were concentrated in the agricultural and rural sectors – considered the "backbone" of the economy. This affirms Agribank's pioneering position in the development of agriculture, rural areas, and farmers, and its commitment to national development.
Credit quality is well controlled with a non-performing loan ratio of 1.56%, with the target of bringing it down to below 1% in 2025. Equity capital reached VND 126 trillion, charter capital VND 51.6 trillion, and pre-tax profit was VND 27,567 billion, an 8% increase compared to the previous year. These figures show that Agribank is not only the largest state-owned commercial bank but also a business that makes a stable and sustainable contribution to the national budget.
Agribank's distinguishing feature lies in its mission: with over 2,200 branches and transaction offices nationwide, the bank brings credit capital to remote and rural areas, closely linked to agricultural life. While many other banks focus on profit, Agribank chooses to combine business efficiency with socio-political responsibility. Priority capital allocations for agriculture, rural areas, and farmers have supported millions of households, small businesses, and cooperatives. Therefore, being in the Top 20 not only affirms its financial capacity but also demonstrates its role as an "extended arm" in implementing policies for agricultural and rural development.
The recognition of Agribank also clearly demonstrates its pivotal role as the "S - Social" pillar in ESG. Its contributions to the national budget, along with preferential credit programs and community support initiatives, have transformed business results into practical and sustainable social value. Agribank's significant contributions not only strengthen national resources for investment in healthcare, education, and social welfare, but also support preferential credit programs for poor households and ethnic minorities, as well as relief efforts during natural disasters and epidemics.
Being honored in the Top 20 also affirms Agribank's leading position: the largest state-owned commercial bank, leading in asset size, network, loan portfolio, and its pivotal role in macroeconomic stability. This achievement further motivates Agribank to accelerate innovation and digital transformation, aiming towards a green and sustainable banking model. At the same time, it is also the bank's commitment to accompanying the Government in socio-economic development and fulfilling its comprehensive corporate social responsibility.
