Inauguration of Laos-Vietnam Friendship Park: New symbol of the great solidarity and friendship between Vietnam and Laos

On December 2, 2025, in Vientiane, Laos, the inauguration ceremony of the Laos-Vietnam Friendship Park took place, chaired by General Secretary To Lam and General Secretary and President of Laos Thongloun Sisoulith.

Also attending were Politburo members, Party Central Committee Secretaries, Central Committee members of the Communist Party of Vietnam and the Lao People's Revolutionary Party. Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Van Hung attended the Inauguration Ceremony.

This important event was organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Vietnam and the Central Office of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party within the framework of the State visit to Laos by General Secretary To Lam and to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Laos' National Day.

On behalf of the leaders of the Party, State and Government of Vietnam, speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the Vietnam - Laos Cooperation Subcommittee Nguyen Chi Dung emphasized that the inauguration of the park is an event of special significance, marking a new step forward in the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between the two Parties and two States, further highlighting the connection, special trust, affection and loyalty between comrades and brothers of Vietnam - Laos, Laos - Vietnam.

The Laos-Vietnam Friendship Park is a red address, serving as a basis for promoting revolutionary education so that young generations can learn about the close history of the two nations, thereby fostering the responsibility to continue and promote the special tradition of solidarity between the two countries.

Appreciating the efforts of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Vietnam and the Central Office of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party - the project owners of the two countries, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Chi Dung believes that following the Laos-Vietnam Friendship Park, the two countries will have many more large and meaningful projects in the future, contributing to promoting the development of the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between the two Parties, States and Peoples.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Lao representative, Head of the Central Office of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party, Phet Phomphiphak, affirmed that Vietnam and Laos are two close neighboring countries with a special traditional friendship that has been built and nurtured since ancient times by President Kaysone Phomvihane, President Suphanuvong and President Ho Chi Minh, gradually becoming a priceless heritage passed down through generations, which has been, is and will continue to develop in the process of international integration. The Laos-Vietnam Friendship Park is a project of profound historical and political significance between the two Parties, two States and peoples of Laos and Vietnam.

The project is not only a symbol of the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries, but also a place to organize cultural activities, sightseeing, physical training and sports activities, a playground for teenagers and young people, and a place to educate the next generation about the tradition of special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Laos and Vietnam.

Receiving this important historical project, thanking the Party, State and Government of Vietnam for giving Laos this meaningful gift, the Chief of the Central Office of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party affirmed that Laos will continue to manage, preserve and promote the value of the Park so that it becomes a destination not only for the Lao public, but also a gathering place for the Vietnamese community in Laos, as well as a place where important events of the great Vietnam-Laos friendship take place.

Laos-Vietnam Friendship Park, with an area of ​​over 30,000 m2 and the highlight being the statues of President Ho Chi Minh, President Kayone Phomvihane, President Suphanuvong, with a total investment of over 330 billion VND, is a symbolic project, a gift from the Party, State and People of Vietnam to the Party, State and People of Laos on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of Laos's National Day and to welcome the National Congress of the two Parties in the coming days.

This project was decided by the Politburo of the two Parties to be built in the capital Vientiane to commemorate the merits and pay respect to President Ho Chi Minh, President Kayone Phomvihane, President Suphanuvong, and is an immortal symbol of the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos.

With a prime location in the area planned to become a major urban center of the capital Vientiane, along with a modern cultural-ecological space design and landscape imbued with the national identities of the two countries, this is not only a project serving the community, but also a vivid symbol of a loyal, steadfast and rare relationship in world history.

As the project investor, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, together with the Central Office of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party, coordinated with relevant agencies to complete the project ahead of schedule, ensuring the quality of the project, creating an important highlight, contributing to further developing the relationship between the two countries with the 16 golden words "great friendship, special solidarity, comprehensive cooperation, strategic connection" between Vietnam and Laos in the future.

In recognition of the contributions of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Central Office of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party and relevant groups and individuals in the project implementation process, the General Secretaries of the two countries presented flowers and thanked the efforts of the agencies, units and individuals. On the occasion of the inauguration ceremony, General Secretary To Lam and his wife and the General Secretary and President of Laos and his wife planted a commemorative tree at the Laos-Vietnam Friendship Park./.
