Cold air strengthens, the North continues to have cold rain

On January 27th, the northern region experienced light rain, and temperatures remained very low, resulting in persistently cold weather.

The National Center for Meteorological and Hydrological Forecasting announced that a cold front is continuing to intensify and move down into Vietnam. This evening and tonight, it will affect the northeastern region, then the northwestern region, the North Central region, and some areas in the Central Central region.

On January 27-28, Northern Vietnam and Thanh Hoa will continue to experience severe cold with lowest temperatures of 9-11 degrees Celsius, 4-7 degrees Celsius in mountainous areas, and below 3 degrees Celsius in some high mountainous areas. In Nghe An and Ha Tinh , the weather will be intensely cold, with lowest temperatures of 11-13 degrees Celsius.

The meteorological agency warns that the widespread severe cold spell in Northern Vietnam and Thanh Hoa province is likely to last until around January 29th. Meanwhile, the severe cold in Nghe An and Ha Tinh provinces will end after January 28th.

In the coming days, the northern highlands should continue to be on alert for the risk of snow and ice. These phenomena affect livestock and poultry, as well as the growth and development of crops.

At the same time, strong winds and high waves at sea can affect the operation of ships and other activities.

Weather forecast for January 27th across the country:

- Hanoi: Light rain, very cold weather. Lowest temperature 10-12 degrees Celsius, highest temperature 13-15 degrees Celsius.

- Northwestern region: Scattered light rain, severe cold. Lowest temperatures 9-12°C, 4-7°C in mountainous areas, below 3°C in some high mountainous areas; highest temperatures 12-15°C, 7-10°C in high mountainous areas.

- Northeast region: Scattered light rain, severe cold. Lowest temperatures 9-12°C, 4-7°C in mountainous areas, below 2°C in some high mountainous areas; highest temperatures 11-14°C, above 14°C in some places.

- From Thanh Hoa to Thua Thien Hue: Scattered light rain. North to northwest winds, level 3. Lowest temperatures in the north 12-15 degrees Celsius, in the south some places above 15 degrees Celsius; highest temperatures in the north 15-18 degrees Celsius, in the south 18-20 degrees Celsius.

- From Da Nang to Binh Thuan: Scattered light rain in the north; scattered showers at night in the south, sunny during the day. Northeast wind at level 3, level 4-5 in coastal areas. Lowest temperature 20-23 degrees Celsius, below 20 degrees Celsius in some northern areas; highest temperature 23-26 degrees Celsius in the north, 27-30 degrees Celsius in the south.

- Central Highlands: Sunny during the day, scattered rain at night. Northeast wind, force 2-3. Lowest temperature 16-19°C; highest temperature 27-30°C.

- Southern Vietnam: Sunny during the day, no rain at night. Northeast to east winds, force 2-3. Lowest temperature 22-25°C, highest temperature 30-33°C.
