Kien Giang develops 7,000 hectares of organic farming

Kien Giang According to the Organic Agriculture Development Project for the period 2021 - 2030 in Kien Giang province, by 2025 this province will develop 7,000 hectares of organic crops.

The organic agriculture development project is implemented in Kien Giang to serve the restructuring of the agricultural sector towards increasing added value and sustainable development. In addition, organic agriculture development is associated with the goals of environmental protection, biodiversity development, and contributing to the development of tourism and services.

Accordingly, Kien Giang's agricultural sector strives to develop 7,000 hectares of organic farming land by 2025, with key crops including rice (6,500 hectares), pineapple (200 hectares), fruit trees (200 hectares) and seasonal vegetables, pepper, and medicinal plants (100 hectares). In addition, Kien Giang also develops organic aquaculture by 2025 to 100 hectares.

Increase the area of organic cultivation land by 2030 to 28,630 hectares, including rice (25,000 hectares), pineapple (2,500 hectares), fruit trees (800 hectares), vegetables, pepper, medicinal plants (330 hectares) and organic aquaculture area of 800 hectares.

Thereby, forming organic agricultural production areas that are environmentally friendly and gradually increasing the proportion of certified organic products according to the requirements of domestic and world markets.
