Deputy Minister Nguyen Hoang Hiep and a working delegation from the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment recently inspected and worked with Phu Tho province on the progress of the Ngoi Gianh Lake Canal System project and the Thuc Luyen Reservoir project.
The Ngoi Gianh Lake Canal System Project is being implemented in the communes of Trung Son, Xuan Vien, Son Luong, Tien Luong, Van Ban and Cam Khe, with a total investment of over VND 1,400 billion from the State budget, invested by the Phu Tho Regional Project Management Board. The project aims to effectively exploit the water source of Ngoi Gianh Lake, serving irrigation for 7,750 hectares of agricultural land, and at the same time providing domestic water for about 160,000 people. The scale of the project includes over 26km of main pipelines and over 35km of branch pipelines.
To date, over 98% of the project site has been handed over, and 9 construction phases are being implemented simultaneously; the total disbursed capital has reached over 84%. However, some sections of the route are still stuck in compensation, site clearance and are affected by prolonged storms. The investor is committed to striving to complete the project in 2025.
At the meeting, the investor proposed that the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment allow the use of about 260 billion VND of surplus capital to invest in additional items to improve project efficiency.
Regarding the Thuc Luyen Reservoir project, the project is being implemented in Thanh Son, Vo Mieu and Minh Hoa communes with a total investment of 570 billion VND. The project has a capacity of more than 4.1 million cubic meters, providing irrigation water for nearly 1,700 hectares of cultivated land, creating a source of domestic water for about 30,000 people. To date, the design and contractor selection items have been basically completed. However, site clearance for the pipeline section is still difficult. The investor requested the People's Committee of Phu Tho province to direct relevant units to speed up the site clearance progress, completing it before January 31, 2026.
Working with Phu Tho province on these contents, Deputy Minister Nguyen Hoang Hiep acknowledged the efforts of Phu Tho province, investors and units in the process of implementing the projects.
Regarding the Ngoi Gianh Lake Canal System project, the Deputy Minister requested Phu Tho province to continue to accelerate progress; agree on the use of surplus capital to invest in additional project items, striving to complete in 2026 to improve the efficiency of project use. At the same time, he requested units to carefully calculate design options, take advantage of available documents, build a specific roadmap, and ensure the progress and quality of the project.
