Urgently complete the Animal and Plant Quarantine Station at Long Thanh Airport

Dong Nai Construction units are speeding up the completion of the Animal and Plant Quarantine Station at Long Thanh Airport, aiming to put it into operation by the end of December 2025 as planned.

Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Environment Phung Duc Tien and his delegation recently surveyed the Animal Quarantine Station and Plant Quarantine Station at Long Thanh Airport; and chaired an urgent meeting to remove difficulties and speed up capital disbursement in 2025 for the project to build quarantine stations at Long Thanh International Airport (Dong Nai).

The Animal Quarantine Station is invested by the Veterinary Department of Region VI, started construction on May 26, 2025, constructed by ACC Aviation Construction Corporation, under the supervision of MD Construction Services Company Limited. The project has basically completed the main items such as the central building, fence, guard house, parking area and animal product inspection station, expected to be completed before December 31, 2025.

Regarding the Plant Quarantine Station, Head of the Plant Quarantine Sub-Department of Region II Nguyen Vu Phi Long said that the construction of the project has basically been completed, but is still waiting for the addition of a station containing measuring and power switching equipment as required by ACV but not included in the original design. The construction time for the additional items is expected to be about 10 days after the completion of the technical drawings. The project is currently waiting for the connection of electricity, water, infrastructure, and communication systems for synchronized operations.

Consulting and construction units are coordinating to accelerate the implementation of specialized equipment packages, working and auxiliary equipment; at the same time, speed up acceptance and disbursement as soon as the items are completed. The Plant Quarantine Sub-Department of Region II proposed the Ministry to allow the use of the surplus capital to pay for arising expenses in the construction and installation package and construction of the electrical equipment storage station.

The Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine of Region VI reported that the construction progress of the animal quarantine station has completed most of the construction and equipment installation; currently, the transformer station is being supplemented as required by ACV.

After inspecting the site, Deputy Director of the Department of Management and Construction of Irrigation Works Nguyen Hoai Nam requested to review the entire quality of the building and arrange human resources to be ready to take over operation immediately upon handover.

Speaking at the meeting, Deputy Minister Phung Duc Tien highly appreciated the efforts of the units in complex weather conditions, working hard, closely following the scene to promptly report difficulties. "The project plays an important role in improving quarantine capacity at key airports, effectively serving the import and export of animals and animal products," the Deputy Minister emphasized.

The Deputy Minister requested the units to continue to coordinate closely and promptly handle difficulties to ensure quality and progress, hand over and put the project into operation no later than December 31, 2025.
