BTO- The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology of La Gi Regional General Hospital has just admitted patient Nguyen Thi Diem (29 years old), residing in Tan Thien ward, in a state of drowsiness and severe abdominal pain.
Through initial examination and ultrasound, the Obstetrics Department noted that this was a difficult and critical case as the patient had symptoms of premature placental abruption, heavy bleeding in the abdomen, and a 23-week pregnancy with a history of 2 cesarean sections. Therefore, the Board of Directors was promptly informed to have a timely emergency plan.
Doctor Nguyen Thi Kim Oanh - Specialist I - Head of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, La Gi Regional General Hospital shared: "Under the direction of the Director of the Department of Health , the hospital's Board of Directors, many doctors and nurses from related departments... coordinated to perform emergency surgery for the patient... the surgery was successful in the joy of the entire team and the pregnant woman's family".
It is known that during the emergency surgery, the patient needed 8 units of blood. However, the hospital's blood bank only had 5 units of blood available, so 3 nurses from the Surgery Department volunteered to donate blood to save the patient's life. After the hospital's emergency surgery team performed the surgery promptly, the patient's health has gradually stabilized.
