When asked if Lady Gaga - real name Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta - would ever want to change her stage name, she expressed her admiration for it.
"No! I like being called Lady Gaga. I like being myself. I became a star when I was 20. Everything reflects back to me that this stage name makes me special," the singer expressed.
Sources say she got this iconic name when her ex-boyfriend and music producer Rob Fusari called her Gaga because her voice and style reminded him of Queen's song "Radio Ga Ga ."

Elsewhere in the story, Lady Gaga talks about working on her seventh album Mayhem , which is scheduled to be released online on March 7, 2025.
"The chaos that I thought was long gone is still there and ready to greet me whenever I want. Part of the message of the first song on the album is that the demons are with you from the beginning and they will be with you until the end. But I don't mean that in a gloomy way," she said of the album's making process.
Lady Gaga mused that perhaps there was a way to "make friends with reality sooner rather than having to run away all the time" as she headed toward the darkness with her new music.
In a press release shared with People , Lady Gaga said Mayhem 's style is like "reassembling a broken mirror" and "even if you can't put the pieces back together perfectly, you can still create something beautiful and whole in your own new way."
The 13-time Grammy Award-winning singer also revealed to the Los Angeles Times in December 2024 that there will be "so many different genres, so many different styles, so many different dreams" on the new album.
"Everything ends with love. It's the answer to the chaos in my life, it's me finding peace in love," she added about the album.
"Every song I write, I keep getting caught up in different dreams of the past - almost like a flashback to all the bad decisions I've made in my life," Lady Gaga concluded.
