Lam Dong: Heavy rain and thunderstorms cause damage in many areas.

A prolonged heavy rainstorm accompanied by strong gusts of wind struck many communes and wards in the southern part of Lam Dong province, causing numerous trees and power poles to fall; large areas of durian trees suffered massive fruit drop, and some houses had their roofs blown off or were flooded.

At approximately 1:30 PM on July 20th, heavy rain lasting for several hours fell in the southern communes and wards of Lam Dong province, including Ward 1, Ward 2, Ward 3, B'Lao Ward, Bao Lam 1, Bao Lam 2, Bao Lam 3, and Bao Lam 4 communes.

Heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms and strong gusts of wind caused trees to fall on many roads, disrupting traffic and cutting power lines, resulting in localized power outages.

A durian orchard belonging to a household in Ward 2, Bao Loc, suffered heavy losses due to strong winds causing numerous fruits to fall off.

In many areas, heavy rain and strong winds ripped off the roofs of some houses, and many homes were flooded. In addition, large areas of durian trees suffered heavy fruit loss due to the wind.

As of 4:30 PM on the same day, no casualties have been reported in the communes and wards affected by heavy rain and strong winds.

Following the heavy rain and tornado, local authorities mobilized police, militia, youth, urban order enforcement, urban construction, electricity, village security, and neighborhood security forces to assist residents in overcoming the consequences; at the same time, they cut down trees to clear the scene and ensure traffic safety on the roads.

Along with focusing on helping people overcome the consequences, local authorities and agencies are compiling damage statistics to consider and provide assistance to the people.

Reporters from Lam Dong Newspaper and Radio and Television recorded images of the damage caused by storms and floods in several localities.
