Lam Dong: National Highway 27 is seriously degraded and needs to be repaired and upgraded soon.

National Highway 27 connecting Lam Dong province with Dak Lak province currently has many seriously degraded sections. This situation has not only appeared recently but has lasted for many years. This not only does not ensure the safety of people and vehicles participating in traffic, but also hinders the flow of goods and local economic development.

In recent years, National Highway 27 has seriously degraded.

National highways are worse than village roads, muddy and full of potholes.

National Highway 27, 282 km long, connecting Dak Lak province with Lam Dong province and Khanh Hoa province (formerly Ninh Thuan province), has seriously degraded many sections, especially the section in Lam Dong province.

Many jagged "potholes" appeared on National Highway 27.

According to records, in the area from Chuoi Pass (Dam Rong 1 Commune) to Krong No Bridge (Dam Rong 3 Commune), the degradation is most serious with many sections showing dense "potholes" on the road surface.

In some sections, the asphalt layer has almost completely peeled off, exposing jagged dirt and rocks, making the road always dusty in the sun and muddy in the rain, very dangerous for vehicles, especially motorbike riders, the main means of transportation for local people here.

The degraded condition of National Highway 27 has been reported many times by Dam Rong voters.

Mr. Ha Thuong (57 years old, a resident with a house along National Highway 27, Dam Rong 1 Commune) said that the road has deteriorated rapidly over the past year, including some bumpy, muddy sections during the rainy season, making it very easy for people to get into accidents when traveling at night.

There have been many accidents involving both motorbikes and cars when going through bad roads, causing minor damage to the vehicles and serious injuries to some people.

Narrow and degraded roads hinder traffic and pose a potential danger to passing vehicles.

National Highway 27 is a vital route, connecting Da Lat, the administrative and political center of the new Lam Dong province, with Dak Lak province. In particular, people in Dam Rong 1, Dam Rong 2, Dam Rong 3, Dam Rong 4 communes (established on the basis of merging communes of the old Dam Rong district) are most affected.

If people need to handle work in Da Lat, they have to travel a distance of about 100 km with many seriously degraded sections, which is both time-consuming and unsafe.

Many people living along Highway 27 said that traveling on the highway is very difficult, but it is worse than the new rural roads in the village. For the whole year, people have had to endure dust and mud, but the road has not been upgraded, mainly temporary repairs and patches.

Allocate capital of 53 billion VND for repair and upgrade

National Highway 27 has been repaired and upgraded from Phu My Pass to Chuoi Pass. Currently, the section from Chuoi Pass to Krong No Bridge (Dam Rong 2 Commune) about 25 km long has not been repaired, affecting the flow of goods and the safety of people.

Faced with the above situation, for many years now, local voters have petitioned the National Assembly Delegation of Lam Dong province to promptly petition relevant ministries and branches to repair and upgrade National Highway 27; in which, it is necessary to widen the road surface and handle sharp curves.

According to the Department of Construction of Lam Dong province, National Highway 27 through Lam Dong province is 91 km long; the road surface is 5.5 m wide and paved with asphalt concrete. Currently, some sections are damaged and degraded.

To serve the needs of travel, production, business and socio-economic development of the people, the Ministry of Construction has researched and prepared a report proposing an investment policy for upgrading and renovating from medium-term public investment capital for the period 2021 - 2025.

At the same time, the Ministry of Construction has approved investment in the project to repair damaged roadbeds and road surfaces, including reinforcing sidewalks and repairing the drainage system, and completing the traffic safety system for the Km 106 - Km 116 section on National Highway 27 (through Lam Dong province) with a budget of nearly 53 billion VND, to be completed by the end of 2025.

The section of the route included in the voters' proposal is also part of this project; at the same time, the Lam Dong Provincial Department of Construction is authorized to manage and maintain it.
